Hi, all!

Well, strange times call for drastic actions - and I have been plowing through scraps like crazy! Since last Wednesday, I completed the blue string top, which I named "Georgia on My Mind"...

...went on to make this top, utilizing some old string blocks that had been gathering dust for way too long....

...and today I finished all the pieces for this string top! It is totally appalling to me that it only took the contents of one small tub of strings to make this quilt. How is that possible? At this rate, I will never plow through all ...

Hi, all!

Well, I didn't make "scrappy sewing" one of my New Year's Resolutions, but maybe I should have - because I have FINALLY been doing some fun scrappy sewing!

I'm working on the quilts for this year's tutorial series, String Therapy, so I grabbed my blue drawer of strings and a stack of white 5" squares that have been in my scrap drawer F.O.R.E.V.E.R.

I have to admit that I haven't been playing in the scraps much lately, but I have seen some amazing inspiration on Instagram that has me wanting to dig them out! Here's just a few...

This "round robin" style quilt really caught my eye! I'm still analyzing why it is so appealing to me...

This one is really interesting too - the design is subtle, rather like a faded old oriental rug.

Well, it has been a heck of a week - I not only got last Monday's list all finished, but I had time to play with scraps! And it felt so good...

I started out with a mess of 1.5" wide strings...

Sewed them together jelly roll style....

Cut that long strip into a bunch of squares and arranged them on the wall...

Wasn't so sure about that look (or size) so I bet you can guess what I did with them next....

It's been an interesting week already, but I'm happy to say that I have had time to play with my scraps! I spent part of the day today repurposing some storage...

Seems like every time I open up Instagram these days, I see more and more gorgeous scrappy quilts! I'm busy working on another commission t-shirt quilt right now....

...so I haven't had any time to indulge in scrappy sewing - boo hoo! You can see the start I made on the quilt today - just cutting out blocks and putting them on the design wall for storage. It does give me a good idea of the color spread, though. Once I have all the blocks cut out I'll lay it all out on the floor to check ...

Are your days all running together like mine? With my husband working from home, there's not much to differentiate weekday from weekend and I really have to think about what day it is. Hi, all!

Do you ever have trouble throwing away leftovers from a project? Ha! I think that's why all of us are in the "overflowing scrap bin" boat! Well, Tuesday I spent the day making t-shirt quilt blocks....

...and by the way, I am loving having a design floor! This quilt is going to be a monster - queen size - and having a room that is only mine, with floor space to spare, makes it so easy to lay it out. And as an added bonus, the dog absolutely refuses to come upstairs, so I don't have to worry ...
