I Like Thursday # 164 ~ The Scent of Spring from Life in the Scrapatch

Good Morning!

Today is ...

I Like Thursday @ Not Afraid of Color

This week LeeAnna asked us to make a list of my favorite scents.

"Raindrops on roses ..."  immediately popped into my mind.

Yes, I do like the scent of roses ... and spring rain ...

and, well, then, raindrops on roses.

My roses are not blooming so I shall show a photo

of one of my favorite scented bushes that is blooming.

This sweet and spicy scented bush has been blooming each spring

in our yard as long as I can remember, which means the 1950s.

It is too cold today, almost ...

I Like Thursday # 163 ~ Good Morning! from Life in the Scrapatch

Good Morning!

Today is ...

I Like Thursday @ Not Afraid of Color

This week LeeAnna asked us if we are a night owl or morning person

and if we are happy with what we are.

I am a bit of both and have a seasonal approach.

The phrase I think of when I hear this question is:

"Turn Around and Say Good Morning to the Night"

Listen to "Good Morning To the Night"

by Elton John ~ Remix Lyric Video

In winter, when the days are short and the temperatures are well below freezing

and we keep the thermostat low, I am ...

I Like Thursday # 162 ~ Signs of Spring from Life in the Scrapatch

 Signs of Spring ~ 2023.

It has been gray and stormy off and on here,

but these beautiful little flowers have braved the wind and weather.

How can I not do the same?

Today is

I Like Thursday @ Not Afraid of Color

This week LeeAnna asked us if we have a special traditions for Easter.

We have one:

getting together as a family to celebrate rebirth and renewal.

It does not matter what we do, what we eat,

how we manage our get together.

Our celebration shall be modified by the current state

of our home improvement projects

and the fact ...

I Like Thursday # 161 ~ Yarns and Oats from Life in the Scrapatch

Good Morning and Happy Thursday!

These are my most recent crochet motifs.

These are little pansy, or maybe violet, faces from the book by

My sewing machine is still under wraps and will be at least another week.

Mr. Scrapatch is starting a new job on Monday and will be only able to work

on all our home improvement projects on the weekends again.

Our Boys are coming over Sunday to help.

Mr. Scrapatch was laid-off in January and although we are both officially retired, he likes to get up and go to work in the morning ...

I Like Thursday #159 ~ Too Early for Spring Flowers from Life in the Scrapatch

Spring Flowers ~ March 2023

All my spring flowers today are in seed form and fabric.

LeeAnna has asked us to share our thoughts about Spring flowers,
our favorite blooms and their colors, when they emerge,
if we plant them in our garden and where else we may find them.

Here in the northeast this mid-March,
there are no flowers to be seen outside anywhere.
We had another major snow storm early this week
and more on the way this weekend.

It will be April before the first flowers, crocus,
poke through ...

To create,

all I need is a place for me and my sewing machine

... thread and yarn ...

... a place to store my fabric and supplies ...

... flowers in my window boxes ...

... and there is joy and creative wonder in my life.

LeeAnna has asked us to share our thoughts of our "sewing dream space."

I have all I need.

I Like Thursday # 152 ~ Colors of My Life from Life in the Scrapatch

In keeping with today's theme for

I Like Thursday @ Not Afraid of Color

my post will be all about colors.

The main colors in the fabrics above, yellow, gray, white and black, were chosen by our niece, Naomi, for her baby girl's nursery.  Her theme is "baby bee." I love yellow and gray together, so this will be a fun quilt to make.

My first grandniece was born two weeks ago.

Her name is Isabella Grace and her nickname is Izzy Bee.

I have seen only photos, as her little family lives in Texas, but Baby Izzy Bee ...

I Like Thursday: trip preparation, guild rummage sale, and donation follow up from With Strings Attached

We leave tomorrow morning for our trip east -- Road Scholar and granddaughter's wedding with sight seeing before, between, and after.  No blog posts until the end of October. . . . and no time for wildflower or even garden photos!

While I'm away my sewing machine will be in the shop for a much-needed cleaning.

# # # # # #

Last evening our guild had a members' rummage sale.  $20 per table.  I split with Irene -- I had a table and a half and  she had the other half.  I packed boxes with books, patterns, notions, kits, and fabric. Every time I turned around I found ...
