Saying good-bye from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm home! I can't even call it a travel day since I did a lot during the day and my flight was at 7:15 p.m. The plane arrived, and we left early. We arrived 22 minutes early last night, but with the time change, I wasn't home until 1 a.m. I think a nap will be in order today!

We arrived at the same gate we left at, and let's say the airport was deserted at that late hour. Another flight had arrived shortly before us, and our baggage was coming at the ...

The end is near! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Thanks for the stories in the comments. I've mentioned this before, but I'm not alone in dealing with hoarding issues. I hate to say that it runs in the family since my parents both have issues. All three siblings have hoarding tendencies, and I see it in M. I found an interesting article about hoarding—check it out because it's interesting.

Hoarding is now being labeled as a branch of mental illness and is widely discussed, and some companies will come and get rid of the stuff, etc. But it's only recently in my world I ...

Nearly done! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Wow!!! There's a powerful story in yesterday's comments about cleaning out a house in ONE day. We've been at it for 8 years! But only sporadically, of course.

I can't stress enough that you need to start looking around now. I don't care if you acquire new stuff but think about what you no longer need and get rid of that. Saying I don't care and will let my kids worry about it is irresponsible. Why should your kids deal with your mess? If you think it's too overwhelming, how will they feel ...

If you have a stash.................... from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

This is an eye-opener for all of us with a hobby where we have amassed HUGE quantities of stuff. We think it's OK to leave it to our families, friends, or guild members to clean up after we can no longer do it ourselves. But have you considered the time, effort, and money that is required to clean it up?

Here's the thing -- my parents live on a farm. There are no dumpster services to call, there are no handy donation centers, and there is no weekly garbage or recycling service. The majority of the stuff will get ...

Memories from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm glad that some of the posts are bringing back memories for people. Working in those old warehouses in Regina! And yes -- it's flat in that area unless you live in the Qu'Appelle Valley -- that is NOT flat, and that's a big hill if you're on a bike! Ask me how I know!

I hope everyone had fun at the Virtual Retreat last night -- I didn't make it. Sorry -- I'll try to stop by sometime today.

And if you want to know who wore it best? The dog came out on top! Sorry ...

What's in your fridge? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It's so nice to have time without a looming deadline! I have loads to do, but with no deadline, I had a great visit with my colleague yesterday. Of course, that put me behind with the day's schedule, and only ONE piece of paperwork disappeared, so this morning will be devoted to paperwork.

However, loads still got accomplished once she left. I'm still working on the cutting table, which is like a revolving door. Something might get placed there, and it's gone within a day or two. This is its current state.

The current state of ...

Dealing with hoarding is not easy from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Thanks for all the comments on the blog yesterday. To answer them --- YES -- I know that hoarding is a symptom or is related to mental illness. That took many years for me to wrap my head around. I feel grateful for all the awareness in the last years to elevate that fact for me. I admit that for many years, I was very embarrassed about that situation and thought that it was totally intentional. While sometimes, her behavior is hard for me to accept, I now realize it for what it is, while my older brother is still having difficulties ...

Got Ketchup? from From the Strawberry Patch...

I first heard about a potential ketchup shortage from a friend a few weeks ago. She read an article explaining that the recent pandemic which has driven restaurant dining to take-out and drive-thru almost exclusively for the past year, has seen abundant waste of ketchup packets, tossed liberally into the bags along with the food. Case in point: this photo contains nine ketchup packets; the actual
