Sometimes you just knit from Becca's Crazy Projects

I'm not entirely sure how this one will turn out. I started with a narrow crescent. No pattern, just an idea and a need to knit. Nothing but knit stitches.
Then joined in the round. I'm using two cakes of sport weight from Freia Fine Handpaint Yarns. My hope is to end up with a small poncho. I think it more likely I will end up with a cowl. I'm going to soldier on in any case. I love watching ombre yarns change colors.

Travel Maker from Becca's Crazy Projects

Last week we had to travel to Rhode Island for business. My partner did the driving. I used that time to work on some hats for Knots of Love
I combined different yarns using the same pattern.
This is a quick pattern that makes a great beanie in a short period of time.
I looked at loads of patterns and ended up settling on this design of my own. Alternate between double crochet and single crochet rows. Make all stitches through the back loop. So simple yet very effective when alternating yarns. The one above was made with two different ...

Knots of Love from Becca's Crazy Projects

I've been making more hats for Knots of Love. This one was made using Knit Picks Comfy and the sweet Coworker Beanie pattern by Rachy Newin
This one was made with the Tensfield by Martina Behm. I really enjoy this pattern. Simple knitting makes for a lovely hat.
When I was done with that one I immediately cast on another. That's how much I enjoy making this hat.
Tuesday evening I finished up. Such a soft, squishy beanie. Time to make another.

Circle and Square Hat from Becca's Crazy Projects

Just a quick update today. I've had a busy workweek and it shows.
I grabbed these two balls of yarn and got stitching on my third Circle and Square hat.
I think these colors are really fun. I hope my family want striped hats for next winter because that's what they're going to get.

Circle and Square Hat from Becca's Crazy Projects

This is my favorite step when making this hat. When you get to cut those worked stitches in half and double up the fabric. This really makes for a delightfully squishy and warm hat.
I am having so much fun with this pattern. It is the perfect knitting while watching television project. What am I watching? Right now we're watching Schitt's Creek.
Another great finished hat. And yes, I have already cast on another one. I still have yarn.

Circle and Square Hat from Becca's Crazy Projects

Remember this little avocado from last week?
Not so small anymore. These really are fun to knit. I wonder if I can make a marled one? Oh, the possibilities!

Circle and Square from Becca's Crazy Projects

This week I finished my second Circle and Square hat.
I ran out of yarn as I neared the finish line so I switched to another self-striping yarn from Knit Picks with brown. It isn't perfect but it is warm.
Then I immediately cast on another one. This start looks like an avocado.

Quilted Hat Tutorial from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Hello, my fellow makers,

Today I want to take you on my journey of making a quilted hat. Like most of my design stories, it started with scrolling over Pinterest and Instagram. For some reason, I was always drawn to the images of summery and beautiful hats with big brims. When the soft and feminine Rosewood collection came out, I decided to look for a bucket hat tutorial and jump into the adventure. I realized that I could just use my love for improv piecing and the Dresden technique to replace the small brim of the tutorial for a big ...

Finished Objects from Becca's Crazy Projects

In the crafting world there are many UFOs. Un-Finished Objects. This photo from a couple weeks ago shows some of mine. I finished the mesh tote and shared it on the blog last week. I'm going to keep wandering around my creative space, finding some of those UFOs and trying to finish a few.
These hats are from a machine embroidery design I picked up from Urban Threads Embroidery. I had the applique pieces and even some silly horns and ears cut out for I don't know how long. I decided it was time for those to be ...

Odds and Ends from Becca's Crazy Projects

I have been in a sort of creative slump. I'm having difficulty getting motivated to embark on some new sewing adventure. That doesn't mean I'm not creating, I don't think that is possible. I just haven't found a new project I'm really excited about.

I did finish my Helix Hat. It isn't shaped like the pattern because I wasn't paying attention when I read the pattern. It was a good project, though, and I will likely make another.
Sometimes I think my motivational block is caused by some of the clutter in ...

Knitting Up Leftovers from Becca's Crazy Projects

I learned about the Helix Hat pattern on Instagram. Someone had made one and I was intrigued. I needed an easy to take along project and hats always fit the bill. I cast on and got stitching.
I grabbed some of my leftovers and just kept going. This is a very scrappy project. Perfect for using up those worsted weight leftovers. I failed to follow the instructions so my hat is going to be much pointier than the pattern intended, but I'm going to keep going with it. As my son would say "One's head can never be ...

Witchy! from Becca's Crazy Projects

When Sew Desu Ne? released this witch hat pattern last month I had to buy it.

I went to the big box fabric store to pick up the materials for my witch had and came home with so much more. All those sales paid off, though. I walked out spending only $30.
This foam was in the remnants bin and just want I wanted to make my hat.
The Halloween costume fabrics were on sale and this fabric just screamed witch/wizard hat to me.
I was concerned I was making it too small, but it turned out just right ...
