A Bit of Everything from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Today, I have a little bit of everything to share with you.

Let's go biggest to smallest quilt.

Here is the 5th Log Cabin quilt made from all green blocks.  I always find it interesting how blocks arrive.  First came a lot of blue.  Then it seemed every package contained green blocks.  Lately all of the blocks have been mostly purple.

On the back, I used a rich leaf print sent in by Beth

This quilt measures 66" square.

This next quilt was sent in by Karen for me to quilt.  I am in love with this pattern.  Looks ...

Happy Block Drive Round Up from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Even though I am not even close to sewing together all the Happy Blocks into quilts, I think I am ready to write up a summary.  I have organized all the blocks into stacks so I am going to guestimate how many quilts I will be making.

We will still keep track as I finish them to see how close I come.

The first Happy Quilt was shared on September 22nd.  Since then, I have shared 57 completed quilts.  I still have 8 in the pipeline that have been started but not finished.  That means there are 65 quilts essentially ...

Six More Compassion Quilt Finishes from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

It was a really busy week for Compassion Quilts.  Log Cabin blocks are starting to arrive and I have started to plan some fun layouts to sew up.  I received some quilts back from a local quilter who helped me out with some longarm quilting.  And I also got back some quilts that had their bindings sewn on.  Things are always hustling around here!

First up is this adorable quilt that Cheryl sent in.  The fabrics all have a beach theme to them.  With fun fabrics like these, simple patchwork is all you need!

Love her straight-line quilting on this ...

Friday Finishes from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

No quilt holder today - So I had to quickly snap these photos on the lawn because it was raining.

This quilt is all about cats. I not only received lots of cat blocks but I was also sent a bunch of cat yardage.  There are many more cat quilts to come!

I decided to use some of the cat yardage I received from Lynnette for some vertical sashing on this quilt.  I used the same fabric for the binding.

I received this cat backing fabric from Dorothy.  It was the perfect size for this quilt.

Happy Quilt #53 measures 54 ...

A Whole Lot of Happy from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I knew I received a HUGE number of Happy Blocks but I was shocked when I added them up today.

I will still write up a round-up post but there were over 3K blocks donated!  No wonder there are still so many stacks of blocks on every surface in my house.

Happy Quilt #48 is filled with all sorts of fruits and veggie blocks.

Any gardener will love this quilt.  Look at the backing with all those lovely garden beds.  I have been hoarding these prints for at least a decade and decided it was finally time they go!

This ...

Happy Fall? from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

The fall season has long since passed but I still have a fall themed happy quilt to share.

I had some great fall colored backing pieces so I decided to gather up some fall themed blocks to go with it.  There are apples, pumpkins, fall leaves, mushrooms - all sorts of things you might see in the fall.  It was fun to see what I could find to include.

This Happy Quilt #47 measures 48" x 64".

Beth sent in these autumn-colored backings.  The scarecrows looked great with these fall leaves.  I also had a rust colored binding ready to go ...

Another Happy Friday from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Yesterday I delivered another 15 quilts to Bags of Love.  That means a total of 37 quilts were delivered to support kids in crisis in the last 45 days!

Thanks so much for your support - I couldn't do this without you!

I am now trying to focus on some larger quilts for adults.  Jean sent me a fabric panel with farm scenes.  I was instantly inspired to put together a farm themed quilt.  The panel had one large image (which I put in the center) and four small images (located around the outside border.

Julie gave me this buffalo ...

Another Happy Post from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I am still busy pumping out more Happy Block quilts.

I am still matching up the blocks to pieces of flannel or fleece that have been gifted.

I received a lot of frog blocks.  I think this is the third frog quilt I have made.  I decided to do a staggered layout for this 41st quilt.

I had another leftover piece of this heavy polar fleece so I just fit the block layout to the size of the fleece.  This quilt measures 40" x 52".

Bugs and butterflies were another popular block to send.  For quilt #42, I decided to ...

Happy Quilt Friday from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

It is finally Friday and that means it is time to share more Happy Quilt finishes!

This fun space quilt is Happy Quilt #37.  A good friend of mine took a stack of blocks and some spaceship yardage that was gifted (sorry, she lost the tag that was attached to it) and created this quilt.

More of the spaceship fabric is on the back - isn't this print fabulous?!

This quilt measures 56" x 64".

This one is actually turned sideways because my quilt holder is short.

I received quite a few blocks that had dots and stripes in the ...

More Happy Quilt Finishes from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Happy Friday!  I hope you guys aren't tired of seeing all these Happy Quilt finishes.  Three are a lot more blocks stacked around my house, so I am not stopping with these any time soon.

Happy Quilt #33 is this cute and colorful caterpillar quilt.  Someone had sent the 16 Hungry Caterpillar blocks in red.  I also received the cute caterpillar blocks in yellow to give me enough to make a quilt.  I have been hoarding that rainbow sashing for years.

This quilt measures 39" x 48".

Nann had sent me the orange print on the back and binding ...

Happy Quilt Finish #32 from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Happy Friday!

I just have one Happy Quilt to share with you today...

This one has a fun woodland animal theme.  So many of you have such cute fabrics!
I set this one with the staggered layout.

Amanda sent me a giant cut of this fun woodland animal flannel.  I was able to use it for the back of this quilt #32.  And I had enough to use it on one more quilt I will be sharing later.

I did realize today in the hustle and bustle of getting quilts delivered last week, I did miss getting photos of a ...

The Finishes Keep Coming from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I have a few more Compassion Quilt finishes to share today.

Check out this lovely quilt! So simple but I think it is an awesome quilt.  Jean sent in this quilt top.  It measures 56" x 61".

Jean had sent in a backing that was white with some rainbow dots on it but I really wanted this one backed in a purple. I was gifted this fun back and I loved how it looks.

I am trying to make some larger quilts for older kids.  Happy Block Quilt #29 has an ocean theme to it.

I really like when I ...

Happy Quilt Finishes #23 thru #28 from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Yep!  I am ready to share six finished Happy Block quilts.

First up are some quilts others made using the Happy Blocks they completed.

The first one is this fun little quilt made by Debra.  She made all of her blocks with the same plane fabric set in some coordinating solids and then framed them up in black.  I love how she added in bright colors in her border and made mini happy blocks for the corners.

A scrappy back with some fun plane fabric.  Such a cute little quilt.

This one measures about 40" x 48".

I think quilt ...

Already Growing! from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I have some great news to share today!

There is a local agency called Bags of Love.  I have mentioned them before because they are one of the places I donate kids' quilts.  BOL makes and fills age appropriate bags for kids in crisis.  These bags can include pajamas, underwear, toys, hygiene items, school supplies, etc.  and each bag contains a quilt or warm blanket.

Because I donate to them, I get their newsletter.  I was reading that they project to be 900 quilts short by the end of the year (yes, they give out that many bags!).  Thanks to ...

Flying Past Twenty! from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

 Happy Friday Everyone!

I have three more Happy Block finishes to share with you today.  Hard to believe we are already surpassing 20 Happy Quilt finishes.

Here is Happy Block quilt #20.  All of the blocks have to do with storybooks.  There are Dr Seuss, Dick & Jane, Paddington Bear and Golden Books to name a few.

So I had to put this great Winnie the Pooh print on the back.  I really adore this print!
This quilt measures 40 x 48".

Cats, Cats and More Cats!  I have received so many cat blocks and cat backings.  This will not be ...

Happy Quilts #17, #18 and #19 from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Happy Blocks are still arriving in a pretty steady flow.  Whenever I have a few minutes to sew, I turn them into quilt tops.  But I am so appreciative when I open a package and the blocks are already sewn into a quilt top.  Plus, I enjoy seeing the new ways these blocks can be laid out.  Here are a few that have arrived and are now ready to donate.

How cute is quilt #17.  I measures 34" square and incorporates some other orphan blocks.

I had a yard of this soft purple flannel.  I was so pleased to finally ...

Three More Happy Block Finishes from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

 Happy Friday!

I have been a busy girl this week finishing up a big sack of Compassion Quilts.  I have THREE Happy Quilts to share.

This first one is another one made from butterfly, moth and dragonfly blocks.  I also had an orphan block with a butterfly, so I added it right to the center of the quilt.  I like to find a home for all the bits that I save.  Plus, it gives this quilt a unique layout.

On the back is a pretty fabric that has lovely birds and butterflies.  I made this quilt top the same day ...

Happy Quilts #12 and #13 from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Here we are...already sharing Happy Quilts 12 and 13 and I haven't put a dent in the number of blocks I have received.  There are going to be a LOT of quilts made!

The two quilts I am sharing today were inspired by some cool blocks I received.  In both cases, I was sent a number of blocks from the same fabric line so I wanted to create a quilt using those blocks.

This first one was lots of fun to make.  I received these really cool sun/moon blocks framed in hot and cool colors.  I could ...

More Happy Quilt Finishes from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I am still working away on the Compassion quilts made from the Happy blocks donated by many of you.  Today I have three to share!

This one is quilt number 9.  I made this one for an adult or a teen.  It really doesn't have a theme.  The blocks are just colorful, and few blocks are made with novelty fabric.

Check out this colorful backing!  I think I actually squealed a bit when I saw it in the box sent by Sue.  The colors in it are amazing!

This quilt measures 56 x 64".

How fun is this staggered ...

Happy Quilts #7 and #8 from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Both of today's quilts are pretty much brought to you by Holly.  She sewed the tops and she pieced up the backings.  All I had to do was quilt them up!

I love the on-point layout that Holly used for her Happy Blocks.

She even used an orphan block on the back of this one.  How fun is that!

Quilt number seven measures 47 x 47".

Quilt number 8 is also on point.  On this quilt, she used some orphan blocks right on the front.  I think it gives the quilt a ton of charm.

(By the way, Beth ...
