We'll pass mid-August this week. It really does feel like time speeds up as we get closer to the end of the year. Didn't we just pass mid year? How can it already be almost two thirds overs? I should calm down, there is still half of August left, so still time to make lots of progress on my quilting plan.
July wasn't nearly as busy as June, so there was a lot more time for playing in the sewing room. Enough playing that there is finally an update to the PHD report.
Just two finishes so far this year, but I'm doing better than last year when my first finish wasn't till September and the second finish wasn't till November.
The finish for July was the 2023 Stay at Home Round Robin (Quilting Gail).
I'm really happy with how this one turned out. My Guy really likes it. That's a good thing because it ...
read moreLast Sunday's post noted just how out of it I felt during most of last week. Saturday allowed for a reset and I managed to get back up to speed on a number of things, including last week's to do list.

1. 2023 SAHRR: Finish binding ✔
2. Kates' Choice: Continue making blocks ✔
3. Guild BOM: Finish June block, start July block ✔
4. Wild and Goosey: Finish blue blocks, start teal blocks ✔
5. Indigo Way: Finish setting triangles, start assembly ✔

read moreIt's been a whirl wind couple of days. We went to Texas to visit Grad Girl for the 4th of July weekend. We had planned to stay till Monday to avoid the homeward bound traffic from 4th of July. Those plans changed when they issued tropical storm warnings for Brazos county due to Beryl. We had a serious rethink and left late Sunday afternoon to drive to Dallas. It's pretty flat in that part of the state and it doesn't take much for parts of the roads to flash flood, so it just seemed wise to avoid ...
read moreHard to believe that we've already passed the half way mark on the year. June was busy with lots of non sewing stuff, so though I managed to keep up with my stitching time, there's no progress in my PHD Report.
No new starts, so that's a positive. But no new finishes. Even so there was good progress towards making that happen in July.
My second oldest UFO was moved along and underwent a name change as well. What started as the Grandmother's Choice quilt along with Barbara Brackman is now Kate's Choice as I ...
read moreWe had heavy rains with strong winds over the weekend, followed by high humidity which has made it just miserable to be outside. I had to run errands a couple of days last week and came home needing naps afterwards. I'm pretty sure one day I got dehydrated and just felt crappy for most of the day. All that to say, I didn't make as much progress on my to do list as I had hoped.
To Do List 06/25/2024
1. 2024 SAHRR: Prep for quilting ✔
2. Kate's Choice: Continue making blocks ✔
3. Guild BOM ...
read moreI didn't post a to do list for last week since I was at the conference for the week and then knew I'd be at Grad Girl's cat sitting over the weekend. There was some progress on the to do list from the 11th before the long drive to Texas.
Last week my motivation for getting to the sewing room was a bit low. I managed at least 15 minutes each day up till the weekend. The solid afternoons of nothing but stitching made the difference in getting my to do list checked off for last week.
To Do List for 06/04/2024
1. 2024 SAHRR: Prep back for quilting ✔
2. Kate's Choice: Continue making blocks ✔
3. Guild BOM: Cut fabrics, start assembly of June block ✔
4. Wild and Goosey: Make blue blocks ✔
5. Indigo Way: Continue as leader and ender project ✔

read moreMay went fast. Didn't I just write the April PHD report? At any rate it's time to link up with P Designs USA for the May PHD report. There's been no change in my PHD report.
One project moved to finished quilt top in April, so that opened a spot on ...
I'm just about back to normal, at least on my activities. Though I'm easing back into my work outs, especially the bicycle time. There was lots of sewing room time last week, so there was good progress on last week's to do list.
It's been a quiet week. We spent the weekend at my Mother's. Grad Girl was able to take a few days off to fit in a friend's graduation and Mother's Day. We had a pretty chill weekend, she's back in Texas and we're back home. I wasn't in my sewing room over the weekend, so I didn't quite get all my to do list for last week checked off.
To Do List for 5/7/2024
1. 2023 SAHRR: Prep back for quilting - no progress
2. Guild BOM: Assemble May block - progress ...
read moreI wasn't sure I'd be posting today. We spent about 30 minutes in our storm shelter last night. We live in the part of Oklahoma that took direct hits from a tornado last night. From the damage reports we've seen, we are no more than a couple of miles off the track it took through our community. So we were very lucky. We have friends and co-workers that live in Barnsdall, the community that's been the hardest hit. Please keep those residents in your thoughts and prayers. So many will have to completely rebuild.

read moreWe had a wet and dreary weekend for the most part. I came down with a 24 hour stomach bug Saturday night. So I didn't get all that much done at the sewing machine. I'm almost finished with the April block for the guild BOM.
It's the last day of April, so we are 1/3 of the way into 2024. I'd hoped for more finishes by this point, but knee surgery wasn't one of my goals for 2024. So I'm hoping to focus on getting in some finishes the next couple of months. With no new projects on the horizon, that should be doable.
I came up with a to do list for last week on Friday. I kept it simple and pretty minimal. But that paid off, I feel like I'm getting back into the groove.
To Do ...
read moreIt's been a couple of weeks since my last to do list. We were traveling for one week and once we got home, prep for knee surgery made it a lot harder to do the stairs. So I've been sticking with hand work pretty much exclusively the last 3 weeks. Since that's the only thing that was on my "allowed" activity list, it didn't seem worth it to do a new to do list. By Wednesday, I was pretty bored with hand stitching and just restless. The knee is fully weight bearing, meaning nothing is going ...
read moreFirst quarter is over and we are already a few days into the 2nd quarter of 2024. Since March is over, it's time to look my progress towards a PHD and link up with P Designs USA for the March PHD report. This month the report shows a finish for the first time this year.
Still a long way to go to reach PHD status. But it's nice having the first finish in March versus waiting till September.

read moreI'm late posting this morning. I had an early morning doctor's appointment to go over the MRI results on my knee. When I mess myself up, apparently I don't do anything in halves. Both meniscus in my right knee are torn. So that will mean surgery, probably later this spring. We'll see how long I'm out of the sewing room when we get to that. For now, I'll keep working to finish off a few projects before I end up on restrictions.
This weekend was a mixed bag on the stitching front. I did ...
read moreIt certainly seems like March is moving along. Friday is the halfway point of the month. The end of the month marks the end of the first quarter of 2024. There is still 3/4 of the year left, but boy does it seem like time is moving quickly.
Thankfully I was able to make good use of the time I had last week so there was good progress on the To Do List.
To Do List for 3/5/2024

read moreFebruary always feels like such a shock after January. The first month of the year always seems to be so long and then you blink and February is over. As the month is over it's time to review my progress (or lack thereof) on my PHD in 2024 and link up with P Designs USA for the February report. The report is about where I expected it to be at this point, so no surprise on my part.
No finishes as yet and one new start. Looks like I'm going in the wrong direction. Maybe, maybe not. There ...
