Sunday Stash March 5, 2023 from Quilt Paint Create

No change in the numbers.

I sewed the rows together on the membership quilt and added the first of three borders.

The next border will be piano keys, followed by another muslin border. I’m not usually one for a lot of borders, but the quilt needs more width. I’m only adding borders to the sides.

Fabric In: 18.5 yards

Fabric out: 2.675 yard

Net Fabric In: 15.825 yards

March 2023 Short List and OMG from Quilt Paint Create

When March rolls around I think of Spring. The days are longer and I want to spend time outside. The weather doesn’t always cooperate, but a girl can hope.

I finished both the pinwheel quilt and the table runner in February. It always feels good to add new projects to the list.

I started The Short List many years ago to create goals to work toward and a way to focus. I continually change the categories as my goals and interests change.

Project 1 (stitching): The Tiny Modernist Holiday 2022 SAL. The border stitched up faster than the solid ...

Sunday Stash February 26, 2023 from Quilt Paint Create

I didn’t get much time in the sewing room this week as a result of fallout from the previous week. I did take time to count some of the second bin of fabric from the estate sale. I also added some of my stash to the Guild charity box to redeem myself.

I’m hoping to get back in the sewing room today.

Meanwhile, here’s another block from the membership quilt.

The Dresden plate block is one of my favorite traditional blocks. I’m pleased that one of the ladies made me one for inclusion in this quilt ...

Sunday Stash February 19, 2023 from Quilt Paint Create

This week wasn’t the week I’d planned, and a whole lot of things didn’t get done. I did finish the runner, which I will post later as a OMG finish.

I hadn’t counted the fabric for the top in, but the backing and binding came out of stash.

Since I didn’t have anything new to show, I decided to post a picture of the block in the center of my membership UFO.

The applique is beautiful and needed to be showcased.

Fabric In: 17.5 yards

Fabric out: 1.375 yard

Net Fabric In: 16 ...

The Next Lucky Project from Quilt Paint Create

With two quilts finished, it’s time start another project that hasn’t seen the light of day in far too long.

Years ago I went to a quilt group that made “membership quilts”. Starting with the person who had been in the group the longest, that person defined what quilt block she wanted and everyone made her one. Each member chose a theme and the size. When my turn came, I chose 12” blocks in 30s reproduction fabrics. The block design was the maker’s choice.

Based on the dated blocks, I received mine in late 2006/early 2007 ...

UFO Show and Tell from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

UFOs are NOT unidentified flying objects. At least, not in the world of quilting! Nope - that means UNFINISHED OBJECT. And there are a ton of other acronyms that have so cleverly been put together over the years. OH MY -- I just found a site with a LOT of acronyms. Check them out! Some pretty funny ones.

Before I get to the show and tell, I need to clarify one small detail about my wee rant yesterday. Some people sign up for classes with excellent intentions. Then life deals them a blow, and they are not able to continue or even ...

Story Quilt pattern and game rules from Wisonsin Quilting

Create this quilt to trigger imaginative story telling either with or without a second person “playing.” There are all sorts of ways to use this quilt if you create this combination of an I-Spy quilt with the rules of Calvin and Hobbes’ Calvinball.* Start with your stash, or ask your guild to send you scrap fabric squares that fit a theme: I asked my guild members to give me 5″ squares that depicted either a destination, a vehicle or conveyance, or something you would take with you on a trip. I received wonderfully diverse fabric scraps and it was a ...

The unveiling from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It was a fabulous New Year's Day. Quiet and I got a lot done. I like hanging out with friends, but I also like peace and quiet. I listened to an audiobook for a good part of the day. The Alice Network by Kate Quinn. I got this book off the book club list from the library. I wasn't sure that I was going to like it, but it's good, although it's long. The audiobook is 15 hours in length -  I'm about half done.

I don't normally provide feedback to the city on anything ...

Feeling Recharged from Threads of Conversation

For six years now, I have traveled to Waite Park, MN in July to spend a few days with some of the best friends I have ever known; a group of women that felt like forever friends almost immediately after … Continue reading
