The Great Reconstruction from From the Strawberry Patch...

There were plenty of really good guesses as to what Gregory was holding in his outstretched hands last week, everything from Santa's beard material to shorn wool to pasta remnants to raw cotton to milkweed silk and cotton candy; NO to all of the above, but thanks for playing along. Here's the answer, pictured left. Shocking isn't it? This is what's left of polyester batting, it has morphed into

Double Digits from From the Strawberry Patch...

There's something quite curious about the passage of time. How can ten years seemingly pass by in a blink while fifty one hours spent in a home without electricity drags on for what feels like forever? Someone needs to help me understand that mystery. Yesterday this young man achieved double digit status! We were on hand, along with his other grandparents, to help him celebrate this big milestone

Of grandsons and jeans and hurricanes from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

Just dumped on the table, there doesn't seem to be much sewing, but he had five pairs!

Our grandson Lane, came for a visit last Friday. You know what they say, "They only come when they want something"? Well, it's sort of true. He gave me a hug, after informing me that he needed some jeans hemmed. Sure. Not a problem.

Let's see, clean and thread the machine, put in a new, extra-heavy duty universal needle (twice), replace the rotary cutter blade or at the very least sharpen it, spend 45 minutes cutting and sewing new ...

MAY 2020 from Nestlings By Robin

MAY 2020
This month deserves EVERY
bit of bold, larger, underlined
text available to me!!
We started the month by going
to Virginia to help my mom
with some things around
the house and to spend
Mother's Day with her.

We did tons of yard work
and I got covered in ticks-YUCK!!!!
Once home, one of the bites
wasn't reacting right so I was
tested / treated for Lyme disease.
My test came back negative but
to this day (2 months later) that
one bite isn't right.
Be careful out there!

Unfortunately, this would
be the last trip ...

more utility (love) stitching . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Yes, I do have to qualify that utility stitching for my grands is definitely *love* stitching!  Ellie's 8-year-old "blankie" needed some attention.  Seriously, I should have taken a before pic! I reconstructed it for her, making it a quilt, of sorts . . .

Hopefully it will get her through (to adulthood)!  :)  It made her so very happy to get it back, my heart was happy too.

I am struggling with allergies again. I'm sniffling and sneezing and coughing ... the very thing people do NOT want to be around right now! So I'm self-quarantining. Add the fact that I'm ...

Christmas outing ... from Quilting Lots Moore Designs

Our Tuesdays girls had our yearly Christmas outing today.  This time we headed west and went to Palmerston North, which is about 1 hour 40 mins from here.  It's a bit longer these days because the gorge that you used to drive through has been closed for the last 18 months or so due to major slips.  The cost of repairing it was too major and a new road is going to be developed.  Unfortunately, it's going to take about another 6 years before that is completed!!  We are way down on the list of priorities. This is ...
