Let's just get to the good stuff first, shall we? It's time to pick a winner for the Dream Big Leaf panel. I've spun the dial, and the random number generator came up with:
#22--Nancy!
Congratulations, Nancy. I've sent you an email, so check your inbox.
As for the news from yesterday...there isn't much. I spent almost the whole live-long day in the kitchen. My first stop, though, was Puck's Peaches, a local grower. The peaches on their tree were so beautiful. I had to smack my own hand to avoid picking one ...

read moreDid that "giveaway" get your attention? Now, I know y'all will be tempted to scroll on by my morning blatherings, but then you'll be missing out on the news about the biggest zucchini ever grown in world history since the beginning of time. Despite my near daily harvest of the vegetables, one zucchini managed to hide long enough to grow to gargantuan proportions. Feast your eyes (and if you're really, really, really a fan of zucchini, this will appear as an actual "feast" to you):

read moreOkay, so life is returning to what passes for normal here at the Three Cats Ranch. We're back from our five-day getaway at Mayfield Lake in Silver Creek, Washington. We had a very nice and relaxing time. Relaxation is the best part of this particular destination. We spent our days sitting, stitching (that was me), bobbing in the boat, swimming (that was Mike), eating, and napping. We even took a walk. We even visited a quilt shop. Today we'll unpack, and then get back to business.

read moreIt's been a busy couple of days, and today will be no different. Today I'll be cooking some food to take along on our camping trip, and I'll be packing food into the camper. Clothing will wait until tomorrow. Our camping spot at Mayfield Lake in Washington is only a couple of hours away, and so we won't need to fly out the door too early tomorrow. It just means I've been able to put off more things until the last minute. And I'm afraid the last minute has arrived.
But let's back ...

Before I get to the good stuff, please allow me to tell you about my day. It started as it always does, with some slow stitching. I'm off to a good start with the fifth block for Dancing Chickens and Flying Pigs. These stitch up pretty fast.
When I'd stitched that far, it was time to pack up the cat for a trip to the vet. He was not a happy traveler, let me tell you.
He was only there for a rabies vaccine, but they also weighed him. Smitty is a big boy at 17 lbs. He ... read more
