Another Rainbow Finish from Cat Patches

The rain held off long enough yesterday for me to get out and deadhead the hydrangeas. It sprinkled a little while I was out, but with my hat and a thick sweatshirt, I only heard it, and barely felt it. That was another job I’ve been itching to get at. Next up will be to clean up the herb garden, which is still full of weeds and dead flowers from last year. It won’t be today though. This morning I’m going to the farmer’s market with Erik and Mae, which is always a good time. It ...

Back Home With a Giveaway from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We're back home again, and settling back into our old routine...emphasis on the "old." There is still a little to do to bring our trip to a close...unpacking the camper comes to mind...but mostly, we're just soaking up what remains of fall in the Pacific Northwest.

Backing up to when we left Winnemucca, Nevada, I took almost no pictures on the way home. It was flat, flat, flat with the occasional butte thrown in for variety. The road was straight, straight, straight. Mike was happy to get into some winding roads ...

A Kitchen Day and a Winner! from Cat Patches

Let's just get to the good stuff first, shall we? It's time to pick a winner for the Dream Big Leaf panel. I've spun the dial, and the random number generator came up with:

#22--Nancy!

Congratulations, Nancy. I've sent you an email, so check your inbox.

As for the news from yesterday...there isn't much. I spent almost the whole live-long day in the kitchen. My first stop, though, was Puck's Peaches, a local grower. The peaches on their tree were so beautiful. I had to smack my own hand to avoid picking one ...

Signing off with a Giveaway from ... Cat Patches

Did that "giveaway" get your attention? Now, I know y'all will be tempted to scroll on by my morning blatherings, but then you'll be missing out on the news about the biggest zucchini ever grown in world history since the beginning of time. Despite my near daily harvest of the vegetables, one zucchini managed to hide long enough to grow to gargantuan proportions. Feast your eyes (and if you're really, really, really a fan of zucchini, this will appear as an actual "feast" to you):

Yeah, I was feeling pretty smug about harvesting all the zucchini before ...

A Return, an Update, and a Giveaway from ... Cat Patches

Okay, so life is returning to what passes for normal here at the Three Cats Ranch. We're back from our five-day getaway at Mayfield Lake in Silver Creek, Washington. We had a very nice and relaxing time. Relaxation is the best part of this particular destination. We spent our days sitting, stitching (that was me), bobbing in the boat, swimming (that was Mike), eating, and napping. We even took a walk. We even visited a quilt shop. Today we'll unpack, and then get back to business.

So let's just see what's been going on, shall we ...

The Last Minute from ... Cat Patches

It's been a busy couple of days, and today will be no different. Today I'll be cooking some food to take along on our camping trip, and I'll be packing food into the camper. Clothing will wait until tomorrow. Our camping spot at Mayfield Lake in Washington is only a couple of hours away, and so we won't need to fly out the door too early tomorrow. It just means I've been able to put off more things until the last minute. And I'm afraid the last minute has arrived.

But let's back ...

Tenth Blogiversary Giveaway from ... Cat Patches

Holy Moly! It's our 10th Blogiversary!

The kitties are ready to party!

Yes, it's true. If you've been reading all that time, then that's ten years of your life you can never get back. And, frankly, when it comes to 2020, you might just want to forget this year altogether. And hey...thank you to all who have followed along so faithfully. The kitties and everyone here at the Three Cats Ranch are grateful for your support over the years. When I started this blog, it was simply because I was a relatively new ...

Merry Christmas and a Winner! from Cat Patches

Hey, Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! Happy Hanukkah! Happy Kwanzaa! And those are all the holiday greetings I know, so my apologies if I left you out. We had a very nice celebration here...good food, good company, good wine. Here we are all gathered around the holiday table, ready to dig in.

Side dishes by Mom. Prime rib roast by Mike. Salad by Mae. Unlike Thanksgiving, I remembered to take a picture of the pretty dessert Erik and Mae picked up at a local bakery. It was the perfect thing...very light, and so it went down easy after a ...

A Teeny Tiny Giveaway from ... Cat Patches

Before I get to the good stuff, please allow me to tell you about my day. It started as it always does, with some slow stitching. I'm off to a good start with the fifth block for Dancing Chickens and Flying Pigs. These stitch up pretty fast.

When I'd stitched that far, it was time to pack up the cat for a trip to the vet. He was not a happy traveler, let me tell you.

He was only there for a rabies vaccine, but they also weighed him. Smitty is a big boy at 17 lbs. He ...
