Sunday Stash October 20, 2024 from Quilt Paint Create

No change in the numbers.

I finished quilting the main section of Remember Me and started the borders. The end is in sight!

I also framed Peace on Earth.

The frame came from Goodwill. It was a home dec item with a saying painted on the wood inside the frame. I wrapped the stitched piece around foamcore board covered with batting and slid it over the saying. I added a spacer inside to keep the stitching from sliding all the way back, giving less of a shadow box effect. I’m thrilled with the result.

Epic Fail OMG from Quilt Paint Create

I did so good on my One Monthly Goals up until last month. A downward trend has started with the finishing projects.

My goal for September was to clean and re-frame this piece.

I removed it from the frame, and found the frame itself was in poor condition. It was a cheap frame to start with, and time did it no favors

I also peeled the embroidery off the cardboard backing. It was glued. I don’t remember if I did that or Dad did it. There was a lot of glue, and the cardboard stuck to the piece. When ...

July 2024 Short List and OMG from Quilt Paint Create

It’s now the second half of the year. I’m happy with what I’ve completed so far, yet it feels a bit unbalanced. The rest of the year could use a wider variety of projects.

I finished stitching and framed Summer Flowers in June, then started a new stitch project.

I began The Short List many years ago to create short-term goals and a way to focus. I change things up as my priorities and interests change.

Project 1 (Stitching): Peace on Earth by Cottage Garden Samplings. This is the first I’ve stitched one of their patterns ...

May 2024 OMG Finish from Quilt Paint Create

Spring is such a busy time, the month flew by. My OMG for May was framing the Gardener’s Angel of Spring. I’m very pleased to have finished it.

I thought the oval frame might complicate things, but it didn’t. I mounted the stitching over foamcore covered with batting. I used spray adhesive to attach the batting to the foamcore. The fewer things that can shift when you frame, the better.

I bought the frame years ago at a barn sale. I’m pleased to finally have a use for it.

Now that it’s hanging I think ...

Always Thankful Framed from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

While I’m on the “thankful” post, thank you all for the kind comments about the first piece I framed. I’m really pleased with both of these and I’m telling you . . it is not hard! The lacing might make me say bad words. You start out with a piece of thread that’s at least...

Lacing from Quilt Paint Create

I had a couple of questions on the last post about how you frame needlework using the lacing method.
I used this tutorial by Instructables Craft with a few modifications.
My frame did not have glass. There are two very different schools of thought on whether or not to put needlework behind glass. For this picture I did not use glass.
Instead of lacing with embroidery floss, I laced with hand quilting thread. I thought quilting thread would hold up better over time and was stronger. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but when I think ...
