Fireworks and more! from Sew Preeti Quilts

Have you seen my newest finish? Fireworks was published in Make Modern Issue 59.

Published in MM#59

Fireworks was designed in EQ8 and made using Fire and Ice, an original collection designed by Claudia Pfeil.

I love this pattern because it is not paper-pieced and requires no special rulers, making it very accessible to quilters of all skill-levels.

I like big blocks :-)

Made of 12 large blocks, Fireworks finished at 60" by 79". The background and binding is Egg White, an Island Batik Neutral available all year round. The backing is Dove, an Island Batik Basic from the Bodacious ...

Holiday Weekend and a New Quilt from Sew Preeti Quilts

Hope you had a good holiday celebration!

I have some good news and I promise I will get to it. But please let me whine first. After all, if I don't do it here, where can I?

In Yorktown

Paul and I decided to visit Colonial Williamsburg so we made hotel reservations a few weeks in advance. The plan was to spend July 4th in Yorktown, July 5th in Williamsburg, and July 6th in Jamestown.

I booked us a sailboat cruise (6:30 - 8:30) on the York river, after which we could watch the fireworks. As we drove ...

Fun on the Fourth from From My Carolina Home

Last weekend was a fun holiday weekend with lots of activities. We started the weekend at Mountain Fresh Orchards on Saturday, having lunch with our friend, Jeff. He had a booth there with his wonderful pottery, and I think he made this green bowl just to tempt me. It is a cereal bowl size and perfect for use in the kitchen. I put some of the strawberries I got from Strawberry Hill in it. You can see his marvelous work at Oz Pottery. I have several of his pieces.

This is my tablescape for this year with my patriotic table ...

Fourth of July from From the Strawberry Patch...

My goal was to get these runners and table topper bound and on tables by the 4th. It's always a satisfying feeling when a goal is met, no matter how small! Here's hoping that you and yours had a safe and happy Independence Day. We had a beautiful worship service in the morning and spent the evening with church friends enjoying delicious food, fellowship, fireworks and freedom! What a difference a

Diwali Memories from Sew Preeti Quilts

Diwali is the festival of lights - the biggest Hindu festival in India. In terms of fanfare, think of it as Hindu Christmas plus fireworks. Friends and neighbors exchange sweets (akin to cookie exchange), homes are cleaned (like Christmas) and decorated with lights and Rangoli patterns. There are sales on home goods and folks are bombarded with advertisements for jewelry and watches (for the special someone in your life). Everywhere you look there is a sale or a bumper sale. Streets are decorated with lights and shops/markets are dressed up in their glittering best.

When Bernie asked if I have ...

July is here! from Quilting & Learning

I can't believe that July is already here. It must be Canada Day because it's really hot and muggy in Ottawa. It may get lively in the burbs today as people who usually head to Parliament Hill stay home and have small parties. I watched a few fireworks from my studio last night - that was a treat.

Happy Canada Day!

Fireworks in July (2015)

I thought that I had only made one other Canada Day quilt, but when I looked at my old posts, it turns out that I made quite a few Canada minis for Canada's ...
