Schoolgirl Sampler Minis and More! from The Modern Diary

I gave this fun table runner to my goddaughter Kelsey for her birthday.  She said she had just the table to put it on.
Barb and I worked on our Kathleen Tracy Mini Schoolgirl Sampler.  We picked out nine blocks each and I think only one was the same.
The above is mine.  Below is Barb's.  Love how they both turned out.

Hazel turned two and she had a party in Wisconsin Dells with her Dad's half the family (they live far away) and last weekend at home with her Mom's side.  She loved her gifts and ...

Four Finishes, Progress on More, and a Trip to Ohio! from The Modern Diary

The rainbow scrap challenge color for July is purple.  I love making both these blocks.  Log Cabin Love above and Butterfly Bush below.  Both patterns from Quiltmaker's "Addicted to Scraps" column by Bonnie Hunter.
I sent three of my quilts to New River to be quilted by Melissa.  She does a great job and has a quick turnaround time.  Kathy made this top but I bound it.  Was hoping to surprise her for her birthday but she busted me binding it!  She is the Patriots fan in this house.

This is my modern medallion.  I designed this one myself ...

Lots of Progress! from The Modern Diary

Hazel is really into her baby doll these days.  She puts her down to nap and covers her up and feeds her her bottle and even sings rock a bye Hazel (instead of baby, lol) to her.  Does not get any cuter!
Here is my Ruby Jubilee for the next Quiltmaker clue and in purple is Becky's.

Barb has not started hers in green yet.

Barb and I really enjoyed working on the Scavenger Hunt Kim Diehl Mystery Sewalong.  Here is is coming along.

Here is Barb's in lighter fabrics.
And the last clue came out today so ...

Fun in Vancouver!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm as cozy as a clam in my hotel this morning. I've got the AC off, so it's quiet and a beautiful temperature! I got a quilt on the bed, and I'm listening to my home radio station! How cool is that!!!!

Soul Mates with my Sewing Buddies! from The Modern Diary

Soul Mates clue one is done!  Barb and I sewed with Becky on Saturday afternoon, and we managed to complete our clue one already.  Here are my fabrics again.

Here are my block A's.  I am pretty happy with them.

Becky also decided to go with blue and brown.  Looking forward to seeing how our different fabrics in the same colors turn out!
Here is Becky's block A.

Here are Barb's blocks in Quilt of Valor colors.  This will be gorgeous too!

These gorgeous blocks are Becky's Ruby Jubilee aka Amythyst Jubilee.  She and I and ...

Big Book Summer Challenge from The Modern Diary

This summer I will be participating in the Big Book Summer Challenge over at Book by Book for the first time.  This is her tenth year at this and I am glad I found Sue!  We not only have reading in common but CFS/ME too.  Before I show you a few of the big books I have coming up this summer I wanted to show you the mail day that made me cry last week.

One of my high school ASL students, Kira, just finished up her first year at college.  She was involved as an officer in PAH ...

A Whole Lot of Reading Going On from The Modern Diary

I recently discovered a whole world on youtube/booktube.  Been adding to my to be read list like crazy.  Read all of the above books (well, almost done with the top left one) as well as "Mexican Gothic," and "Billy Summers" which Jay gave me as a belated birthday present which did not make it in the picture.  I see "The Starless Sea" is not centered right either.  It is early, I have not started my coffee yet!  I have noticed most of the booktubers I have found are twentysomethings and I wish I could find some nearer my age ...

Happy Fall! from The Modern Diary

It has been a month since I blogged and all I sewed since them was the aqua Rainbow Scrap Challenge block!  I am linking up behind schedule and better see what the next color is!  I did not see it posted yet but Angela has a sick kiddo and is a teacher, so no worries if she is behind schedule.  I may have missed it too so will check back.  Only four months left to go!

I read another book box and really enjoyed it.  I should really cancel this but I really LOVE them.  I resell almost all of ...

Grey Trees and the Fourth of July from The Modern Diary

Since this month's color was blue again I decided to go with some greys.  I used my new aqua border sashing since I am low on the one I used for the first six blocks.  This one will blend in enough on the other six.  I am really enjoying the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!
I have also been working on Winter Blues (in greens) and finally got this awesome Stripology ruler which cuts so nicely!

We went up to the lake (Long Lake, Wisc) on July 4th so we could see the family.  Hannah and Jeremy and Hazel came out ...

Farm Girl Vintage 2! The Sewing Goes On! from The Modern Diary

I was kind of sad that the four books I own by Lori Holt (and several PDF's) did not have a puppy block!  Luckily Barb had the Christmas book and borrowed it to me for this puppy!  It was fun to make.
Next, I decided instead of wrapping up these Lori Holt blocks, I should buy Farm Girl Vintage 2 and keep on sewing.  So I started with a nice easy pair of Acorn blocks.  Love how they came out!
Then I got crazy and cut for a pair of Rise and Shine Rooster blocks. I then took some ...

Mystery Progress Continues--and rejoining the Rainbow Scrap Challenge! from The Modern Diary

Stopped in to see Hazel last week.  She loves her tummy time!  Learned how to play Sylvion and it is my new favorite solo game!
Grassy Creek's reveal came out....paused from it and....Sewed up the clue for Morewood Mystery, looks like candy.  Next clue in a month so it will be waiting.
Today I sewed online with Dr. Kathy, Becky, and Barb...had some issues with the Pine Tree Point Quiltville quilt....I decided to make one block a month for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge since I have missed doing it the past few years.
Lots of ...

Christmas with the Youngest and Mystery Quilts are Caught Up! from The Modern Diary

Two blog posts in one day since I cannot figure out how to schedule this one like I used to!
We went and saw Jay the day after Christmas.  He liked his gifts and his stocking.  While we were there we had pizza and played "The Game," "Blokus," (which he gifted us) and "Five Crowns," which is a long time favorite game.
My Once Upon a Time advent box came super late on Christmas Eve.  Read two stories a day and opened my gifts.  We got four books in the box!  Really fun stuff.
Here is clue five of Grassy ...

Merry Christmas! from The Modern Diary

We spent Christmas Eve with my daughter and her husband and baby Hazel.  They went home to his folks' home last weekend so they could keep it small.  So Hazel finally met two more great grandparents and his parents had a chance to see her for the second time.  Really keeping the circle small.  So hard with a new little one, but we benefited as we got to spend the time with them. Tomorrow Kathy and I will go spend the day with my youngest (he is working the holiday) so seeing two out of there of my kids is ...

Geese on a String and Holiday Happenings! from The Modern Diary

Geese on a String progress happened between Grassy Creek Clues.
Bug had to pose with the first few rows.

And the flimsy is complete.

My November book box finally arrived and I read it right away.  Still waiting on December and sadly, the advent box too.

Gudrun Erla did a video on December 15th for these Woven Heart ornaments, which remind me of Norway so I bought the supplies and had to make a few.  This year only the kids and my Goddaughter will get one, next year maybe more folks.  They are fun to make!

I am still working ...

Grassy Creek Clue Three, Grandbaby and More from The Modern Diary

Took me two days but I completed Grassy Creek Clue three.  Looking forward to tomorrow's clue.

My brother and his wife sent us this little tree which is supposed to promote healing.  It is so pretty and goes well on the bookshelf right by my favorite little hedgehog from Margarite!
I wish this ornament still worked...it made the most ANNOYING cheep, cheep, cheep, CHEEP, noise which I begged to listen to as a kid.  It was on my Grandma Char and Papa DeLos' tree.  They always hid it at the back, but I always remembered it and would ...

Mysteries and More Mysteries from The Modern Diary

These are my fabric choices for Grassy Creek along with the cards I am using them for of Bonnie's.  So where she has orange I have dark blue, etc.  I went with what I have though I LOVE her colors this year.

Clue one is all ready except I should trim the dog ears off tonight.  Next clue comes out tomorrow already!  I love this time of year as I have so much to sew and have a high motivation to do it.  With my fatigue it is nice to feel PULLED out of bed even for awhile.

I ...

Harley, Houses and Hazel! from The Modern Diary

Really enjoyed my Spooky Halloween Box this year.  I resold it but will read more by that author!  I made a bunch more masks for Christmas gifts.  I have more time and fabric than money so getting creative as always!  This style for my oldest son and his step son.  I did not take pictures of most of them. Thinking I may do a few more too now that I have a giant thing of elastic!
I finally put together the BQ2 pattern for Rachel and Bryan.  They wanted a "Harley" quilt and this was the best I could come ...

All Good Things November! from The Modern Diary

Hazel is as happy as we are for a female Vice President!  Herstory in the making!  There were some tears at my house.  I hope our country starts coming together again soon.
Still reading the Once Upon a Book Club boxes.  Some of them I resell when I am done with them.  They are a bit pricey but I really enjoy them so I am going to keep it up for now.  The Halloween Spooky box above was really good and I will find and read more y that author.  The Halloween Sweet box was too corny for me though ...

Lions, and Hexies and More, Oh My! from The Modern Diary

I have been hand sewing hexies in front of the TV again.  Kathy has to do passive arm exercises to help her shoulder heal so we watched two seasons of The Umbrella Academy and started Schitt's Creek.  Lots of stitching while sitting in my new recliner.  There is already another row on this quilt which has been sitting around getting no attention for several years.

I asked to visit the Tosa Quilters (though was too tired to go to the meeting) so I got on their mailing list and found out about a 35 minutes away fabric sale. Since ...

Quilted and Bound and a Loss from The Modern Diary

Keeping up with my reading this week.  Finished this one and now reading Barbara Kingsolver's "Lacuna."
I picked up FOUR quilts from the longarmer down the street.  She quilted my sister's Midnight Flight Christmas Quilt and now it is bound and waiting for a label.
She also quilted my daughter Hannah and son in law Jeremy's wedding signature quilt.  Also bound and waiting for a label.  I used to label ALL my quilts, then somewhere along the line I got lazy and stopped.  I need to get back to it!

The grandbaby's quilt with sloth in ...
