Table Runner.....Progress from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

After checking on the mama cows

and newborn calves

and getting all of the cattle fed...

I head straight for the Thread Shed

to machine quilt more table runners...

These are small and fast to quilt

and very satisfying to work on...

3 runners quilted and bound...

I use a Hera Marker

to mark the spine of the feather

on the quilt sandwich...

Then I take it to the sewing machine

and stitch the feathers

following the marked line...

The Hera Marker works nicely

and does not require

using water or air erasable pens.

Crosscut Tote Bag... from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

Remember this Quilt Top?

I pieced this back in 2018...

I had lots and lots of leftover blocks...

I pieced enough of the blocks together

to make a tote bag...

Here it is:

Crosscut Tote Bag...

I used Pellon Flex Foam...

so fun to quilt through and also creates

a super firm bag that stands up nicely...

I lined it with leftover fabric from the quilt top...

covered a piece of cardboard for the bottom.

I boxed the bottom corners to create

a flat bottom...the bag stands up and doesn't

fall over when ...

Passing the Torch... from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

Every Quilt has a story...

She carefully chose the flannel fabrics.

I asked her, "what do you want to do with these?"

She replied, "I want to sew all the pieces together

to make a quilt for my bed."

I cut the flannel fabrics into squares

and she pieced them together...

I told her if she finished the quilt top,

I would quilt and bind it for her...

Over a period of 2 weeks,

she stitched together seam after seam

until she thought it was big enough for her bed...

Then she went home

and I carried on with completing ...

Fabulous Finish....Number 6 from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

I am adding another quilt to my

Fabulous Finishes 2022

Floral Monet 2

I finished up the machine quilting yesterday

on the Sweet Sixteen sit down long arm...

This quilt is all about the gorgeous fabrics.

I used yellow thread on the top

to blend in with the fabrics...

It is all trimmed and ready for binding...

Binding strips are cut 2 1/4 inches wide...

I am using my walking foot

to stitch on the binding...

The stitch in the ditch sole plate

helps keep the thread right next to the binding...

Here are the 3 sole plates for ...

Fabulous Finish....Number 5 from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

This improv piece has been sitting

around for almost 2 years...

It has waited long enough.

The top consists of Pick Up Stix blocks...

This is a piece I hand dyed and

         silk screened.

I sliced it up and created borders...

The quilt top is ready to be basted and

go under the needle...

This is a small quilt so I am doing the

machine quilting on my Bernina Artista 200...

I am using a walking foot for the

simple, wavy, line quilting...

The white thread does not compete with

the pick up stix blocks

and shows up nicely in ...

Fabulous Finish....Number 4 from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

I dug deep to find this unfinished project...

These were orphan blocks from a

New York Beauty quilt from 2009

I put the orphan blocks into a table runner

and today they are going under the needle

for some machine quilting...

These blocks are all about the fabrics and design,

so I kept the quilting very simple

so it would not compete...

These are 6 inch blocks that were leftover from

They are foundation paper pieced...

which is the only way to roll with the

NYB pattern

Just love those pointy points !

Now that it ...

Fabulous Finish....Number 3

This is the 5th in a series of

Barn Lot Quilts

I was working on in 2019...

There was still a bit of machine quilting

that needed to be finished up on this one:

Can you see the rusted horse shoes

on the fabric?

Here is a close-up view:

Horse shoes from one of

the Cowboy's roping horses

is wrapped in the fabric and rusted with vinegar.

The images on this quilt are all about....RUST

Lots of rusty objects in the barn lot.

I tried to keep the quilting simple so it

would not ...

Fabulous Finish....Number 2 from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

I am devoting my time in 2022

to complete my unfinished quilt projects:

This is Fabulous Finish...Number 2

This is 4th in a series of Barn Lot Quilts

that I was working on in 2019...

These are all personal images taken by me

and transferred to cotton fabric:

We have lots of rusty stuff in the barn lot

that I used to rust the background fabrics...

It was great FUN to quilt circles and curves

all over the quilt...

Commercial cottons make up the pieced borders

I hand dyed the backing fabric...

The binding is also hand dyed ...

I cut my binding strips 2  1/4 inches

Thread Shed....Fresh Start 2022 from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

I read somewhere recently that it was...

Clean Off Your Desk Day

I decided to put this into good use

 in the Thread Shed:

I don't have a desk in here,

but I have lots of work surfaces

that were piled high...

I should have taken a before picture.....oops!

I cleaned off my big ironing board

the Cowboy built this for me 20 years ago.

I hand dyed the board cover.

I also cleaned off my main work table...

it is a vintage drop leaf table with lots of leaves

and is about 80 inches long.

I cleaned ...
