Small Steps from Quilt Paint Create

Sometimes it’s all you can do to make a little progress on a project.

This morning I managed fabric selection for the bag.

The fabric on the left came from my Guild’s fabric sale a few months ago. The others have aged.

This year many of my projects included recent acquisitions. Although I find a stash useful, I have to question the wisdom of a large stash. If I use only the recent buys, there isn’t much hope for the stuff I bought a long time ago.

Time will tell. I’ll give it another year and ...

The Playful World of Petite Circus Fabrics by Alexandra Bordallo from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Petite-Circus_banner

Here in South Florida, during this time of year, there are a couple of very fun festivals and circus events happening that are always so exciting! Going there with good company and of course, all the fair food will always bring a smile to my face. Once I laid my eyes on Alexandra Bordallo’s Petite Circus collection, I was instantly brought to this happy place! Reminding me of all the fun times I had when I was a kid going to these fairs, waiting in line to go on the rides and having good conversations with friends, and eating ...

By being a creative person by nature, I will always have a deeper appreciation for art! Textile designs are unique in the way that you can feel the fabric, feel inspired, and manipulate it to transform into something even more beautiful! Every time a new collection is released, I’m thrilled to be one of the first ones to see the fabric because I instantly think of all the patchwork projects that can be created with it. This time around, when I saw Bonnie Christine’s latest collection, Wild forgotten, its wondrous prints and earthy colors made me instantly swoon ...

Celebrate Katarina Roccella’s 20th AGF Collection! from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Welcome back, makers!

Twenty_banner copy

When surrounded by such a creative team, I’ve gained so much appreciation when a concept is brought to life! As creatives, there isn’t a mentor, no checklist, no rules to follow, just following your gut. However, with persistence, patience, and tons of practice, you can achieve anything you want! As makers, we can all relate to this, to think back to where we started off and how far we’ve come with our newfound skills. So, let’s take a moment and give yourself a pat on the back for everything you’ve accomplished!

With ...

Onward_board_banner copy

Hello, fabric lovers!

I would like to start the day with one of my favorite sayings, “It doesn’t matter how many times you fall, what matters is how many times you get up!” We are all humans, going through this roller coaster we call life, and our goal is to try to make the most out of it. Today celebrates exactly that with Jessica Swift’s latest collection, Onward + Upward! One of my favorite things about Jessica as a designer is that her collections are so personal, relatable, and enlightening.

Onward + Upward embraces the powerful experience of self-discovery and ...

Now with Sharon Holland’s new fabric collection, Bookish you can cherish both moments at the same time! This collection encapsulates the delightful moments of drinking a hot cup of tea, reading a good book, and curling up in a cozy quilt. Bookish tells a tale of classic romance and modern whimsy in dusty-colored book covers of rose, burgundy, teal, peach, and gold.

Zen Mode with Vert Fusion Fabrics from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Vert_banner (1) copy

Hi, fabric friends!

Here at AGF, we love coming up with innovative designs and pushing the definition of what low volume prints mean, so we added a little spice! In some of our past Fusions, we released collections like Ballerina Fusion and Serenity Fusion that were based on the same idea but with a twist. Ballerina Fusion had a hint of pink, Serenity Fusion had a tint of blue, and now with our latest release of Vert Fusion, our approach was sage and aloe tones.

If you’re new to AGF, our Fusions are a mixture of prints from other ...

A sticky situation from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Well, I did NOT get much done in the sewing department yesterday, and I'm OK with that. I went shopping instead! And there were two reasons for that. I have to take my car in today for a recall on the fuel pump. That requires that the gas tank be ¼ or less. I was at a half tank, so I had some gas to burn off. I'm just at the ¼ mark, so hopefully, that works for them.

It was a good trip as I found something that I didn't think I would find! Let's ...

It's all about LETTING go from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

For those that know me, I'm a bit of a control freak. Apparently, I NEED to be in charge. I need to see what happens with my stuff and how it gets used. I'm thrilled to report that I've eased up a WHOLE lot. I think that's one of the reasons that we find it hard to let go of things. God forbid that someone else may choose to use my stuff in a totally different way or they may assemble a quilt in a different way than I would.

I'm so happy to report ...

KEEPING DOLLY COZY from That's Sew Kerry

Quilted Sleeping Bag

Quilted Sleeping Bag Tutorial:

1.When your baby sister asks Santa for 'blankets for Dolly' you do what you can to help the big guy out! There are several ways this can be done, this is simply the way I made them and thought you may find it useful if you have small people who also want to keep their Dolly warm.

Cutting:

All squares are 2.5 inches the amount you need will vary depending on the dimensions of the doll you are making for. Dolly is 18 inches tall and is similar to the American ...

Show Us Your Fabric Stash from Carol Lyles Shaw

Today’s prompt is Show Us Your Fabric! I’m not super organized but I have a basic plan.  And I try to keep it up — although this means a general clear up about every few months. So this is another honest craft room post, my dear friends! I keep my grunge, ombres, some solids and …

Real Sewing Space from Carol Lyles Shaw

I love seeing the #honestcraftroom on Instagram–it definitely helps to know that most of us don’t work in professionally decorated studio sets. Of course, a woman can always dream about a 400 square foot space with long design walls and built in overhead LED lights….and an assistant to do the pressing and cleaning up.  Sigh…….. …

Matching Fabrics Part 3: Using Elements (blenders) from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Hi, fabric lovers!

Elements-2020 BLOG

Welcome back to my “Matching Fabrics” series! This has been quite a ride, with such an overwhelming response since the start, I am very excited to be continuing and sharing my knowledge. In my last blog post, we spoke about how important scale was and how to use it. In the last part of that blog, we spoke about the small-scale fabric prints and in this section, I wanted to dive deeper into what that is and how they are also considered a blender fabric.

First, let's talk about the definition of a blender fabric. These ...
