One Day, One Block, Two Cats from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. I'd say it was a slow day here yesterday, and maybe it was. I got everything finished I hoped I would, so it's all good. In the sewing room, I made November's cat for the Cats in Pajamas quilt. All the "filler" pieces were cut at the beginning, and so when I make one of these blocks, I'm cutting only pieces for the cat and the pajamas. They aren't hard to sew together, but it does take several hours...for me, at least.

Sit and Stitch from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We had a relatively nice day of weather yesterday. It's getting colder though. I donned my winter woolies and got out early to cut back the dahlias. And that brings my 2024 gardening efforts to a close. It's up to Mike now to load the pots into the bucket of the tractor and move them to the garage. (I've never actually tried picking them up, but apparently, the pots are heavy.)

While I was out, I took a few pictures of our fall color. Just two trees have enough leaves left to make ...

Next Steps from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. When we chatted yesterday, I thought we might get a decent day of weather. Before I could even finish my slow-stitching, it was raining again, and it rained most of the day. Today is looking more promising. I'm wanting to get outside and cut back the dahlias. It's time for them to move to the garage. (My dahlias are planted in pots.) It's looking as if today's weather might be more cooperative.

And, well, rainy days are good sewing days. Of course, nothing could happen until I finished off January's block ...

Sitting and Stitching from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. There were quite a few things on my to-do list yesterday morning. I was able to move most of those things to a different day. I still made a short trip into town to run an errand, but then I settled myself into a comfy chair and spent most of my day stitching.

Embroidery was at the top of my list when I finished yesterday's post. When I went downstairs to get started, I found the kitties discussing whether Smitty's purrtection detail was still necessary.

While they decided, I took the first stitches on ...

Three Rows Done from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. I think we're heading into a mostly dry day. It was mostly dry yesterday as well. I mention this because it seems as if I have a small window of opportunity to cut back the peonies for the season. Mike is going to drive the tractor around to where they're growing so that I can put the clippings into the bucket. Yesterday, he was able to burn three big burn piles that had accumulated over more than one year. The fire was hot, and everything is burned to a pile of ash now. I ...

Five Fabulous Fannies from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. The busy weekend is over, and it's a new day. The sky was pretty this morning.

We had a really nice visit with the kids yesterday evening. We were celebrating Erik's birthday from last week, but mainly, we were just visiting. Time spent listening to the things they're doing is always enjoyable.

There was a lot to do yesterday morning, but I took some time to stitch the first stitches on the 6th of Grandpa's Bridges.

From there, I went straight to work, baking some cookies. These were just a present for ...

Foursome of Fannies from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends! We're nearly halfway through the month. How's everyone doing out there? It's been a busy weekend here, and we're not finished yet. The kids are coming for dinner tonight, and so I've been busy in the kitchen. Before I did anything else yesterday, though, I spent some time with my slow-stitching. I'd missed it the day before. Now October's block for "Joy in the Ordinary" is finished.

I'll add that one to September's block, finished a few days ago. Both blocks need borders before they can truly ...

Three Projects from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's still fairly dark and foggy out as I'm writing. It's anyone's guess what the weather holds for us today, but it doesn't matter much either. I'll be spending most of my day inside. We'll venture out for our grocery shopping tomorrow. The weekend will be busy. The kids are coming up for dinner to celebrate Erik's 45th birthday. Can you believe I have a child that old when I'm clearly so youthful?

It was a good sewing day yesterday. And I even made good on my ...

Phenology Phinally Phinished from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. In yesterday's blog, I was going to say I was determined to get back to my exercising routine with a walk on the treadmill. I think I've been saying it for about a week. In yesterday's post, I simply forgot, which was probably a good thing because it would have been a lie. Instead, I couldn't blast myself off the couch from my morning slow-stitching. The more I stitched, the more I wanted to finish. And so I stitched and stitched and stitched until I'd finished the last of it.

These Took Forever Quilt Blocks from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's a lovely October day here in the Pacific Northwest. I told Mike yesterday I think this is the best time of the year here. On the other hand, I say that about all the seasons, with the possible exception of winter. On the other, other hand, I'm actually happy with the winter rain and snow. It's good sewing weather. The darkness is my only beef with winter weather.

The dahlias are making the most of their final days. As I've mentioned, the Firefighter dahlia is the most watched thing in the ...
