Rapid City from Liz Makes Crafts

After I finished the lovely More Fishes for Cheryl's blog hop, I loaded up the next quilt, and then, my summer vacation started. I had such a nice time with lots of traveling around the country and memories made with my family as well as some solo trips for myself, but after I got back home, it was really hard to get back into the longarm room.

After a hiatus of about 4 months, I finally started machine quilting again. All this time I didn't really know what to do with the quilt, and I kept hoping an ...

tokoyo subway finish from Making A Lather

I made this as part of the rainbow scrap challenge in 2018

It was an oh Franson pattern. I used a 2 inch square interfacing and ironed the squares by color on the fusible side. I could then fold along the strips and sew the rows together. It was a process. As each color of the month was chosen, I would add that color to all the squares that would need it.

It is Tokoyo subway by Elizabeth Hartman.  I downloaded mine from her website when it was free.

60 x 60 = 12 yards

Travel with the Gnomes – Part 1 from Want It, Need It, Quilt It!

It’s a little-known fact that gnomes love to travel. Pat Sloan packed Norm off to tour the world with only the clothes he was made with and the anticipation of exploring new worlds. His first stop was Melbourne, Australia care of USPS airlines. Flying business class, he landed at Tullamarine airport and was greeted by...

Bear Facts and Multiplications from quiltaholic

It seems a long time since I last posted. In fact it is quite a long time. Tempus Fugit when you are enjoying yourself. Also I have been running a bricks and mortar shop which took up most of my time. Last time I published I think I had completed the Elizabeth Hartman Bjorn the Bear Quilt. The latter was made from leftovers from the Fancy Forest Quilt I made earlier. I don’t know if that qualifies as upcycling but whatever it is it’s an extra quilt top for no extra outlay and that can’t be bad ...

They're MAGIC! from From the Strawberry Patch...

I received a box of new patchwork (new  to me) pins in a gift box from a friend a few weeks back. They're called "Magic Pins". I'm very particular about my pins (read: obsessed), each pin has a purpose and each type is assigned its own, designated, pin cushion-- they're NEVER to be intermingled (ask my grandchildren!

I had fun with last week's list, too - let's see how it went....

1.  Work on a special secret project.
This one really grabbed my attention this week, and I managed to finish the top.  Here's a sneak peek ...

Sloths Quilt from Magpie Quilts

Like any quilter who's been on social media for a while, I've seen my share of Elizabeth Hartman patterns done up in a variety of colours and combinations. Frankly, I've always been a bit intimidated by what looks like incredibly complex quilt piecing.

When I was asked to make a quilt with a sloth theme, I wondered what that might look like and as I searched for ideas, I discovered that there actually was a sloth pattern out there!
My only guidelines were sloth theme and the colour purple, so I pulled out a fat quarter pack ...

The Clearing at the end of the Fancy Forest. from quiltaholic

I finally completed Elizabeth Hartman’s Fancy Forest. It was a bit of a marathon but if I am honest I enjoyed every bit of it.

I have never liked piecing, probably because I was never inspired by the resulting blocks that were mainly traditional in style. I make a lot of quilts but they need to interest me. I like appliqué because it paints pictures with fabric. Elizabeth Hartman patterns allow me to do that whilst at the same time nailing the art of piecing.

I used Boundless botanicals from Craftsy for the animals and I think the bright ...
