The finished Scrappy Cross Quilt from Red Pepper Quilts

Scrappy Cross Quilt - Tutorial Available - © Red Pepper Quilts 2020

My Scrappy Cross Quilt is finally finished. It's taken several weeks to get around to stitching down the binding, and longer still to take photos. For the last decade or so I have worked almost exclusively on one project/quilt at a time. It's just how things rolled. But over the last 12 months I've added more and more projects to my steadily growing selection of works in progress, and whilst all that is good and well, I have knuckled down and I am keeping myself occupied by completing those quilt tops, basting, quilting and binding. Easy pattern for quilt – a scrappy quilter’s dream. from Pieced Brain

Easy pattern for quilt – a scrappy quilter’s dream.

Here is an easy pattern for quilt that beginners will love and scrappy quilters will swoon over! Make it with batiks as I designed it, or with your favorite fabrics.

Vintage Chic

I updated my pattern Vintage Chic using the Art Inspired: Music, Blue and Pink No. 2 collection by Anthology Fabrics and I think it is looking hot! The quilt measures 62-1/2″ x 76″ and the blocks finish at 12″. This is a good throw size quilt or lap quilt.

You only need to make flying geese – diagrams show how – and the center blocks are made of four ...

Scrappy Cross Quilt and Tutorial from Red Pepper Quilts

Work in Progress

Scrappy Cross Quilt and Tutorial | © Red Pepper Quilts 2020

My first machine pieced quilt for the year! It's been so long since I switched on the trusty Juki but having plenty of home time and a significant fabric stash meant there was no excuse for lounging around. Although I did plenty of that too.

Scrap quilts are my favorite, especially simple designs pieced from small patches of fabric. I have a shoe box full of 2 inch squares that I add to regularly. Whenever I cut fabric for a quilt and have a small scrap of fabric leftover, I cut that piece into 2 inch ...

A Stash Buster QAL from Quilt Doodle Doodles

I'm not even sure how many days we've been practicing self distancing. Seems like f-o-r-e-v-e-r but I know we can do it! My best friend and I had lunch the other day. You are wondering how right? Well we both went thru the drive thru at Chick Fil A and got our lunches, parked in a parking lot like the police do on donut break and visited with our car windows open leaving a nice distance between us. It was a great visit and sure to be one we won't forget! We talked about quilting and what ...

Mystic Journey - a new Patchworks Studio pattern from Daphne Greig

Here's an easy project that you can make in a weekend!  And you'll learn about 'value' as you make the quilt. The quilt is a great 'cuddle on the couch' size.

I chose Banyan Batiks Banyan Classics fabrics. This collection includes the range of values to create the shading for the blocks.

A centre square of colour adds interest to the quilt; choose your favourite accent colour.

Quilt size: 63" x 72" - Recommended Skill Level: Confident Beginner

Non-secret sewing! Something for me (or rather, the cat…) from Dimple Stitch

Hurrah! I’ve found something else I can show you which isn’t top secret!

Firstly, a little update on the chickens. The line-up has changed somewhat over recent months, we lost Priscilla (to a tumour) and Betty (fox) within a few weeks of another, which was really upsetting (softie over here shed a few tears…) and meant we were down to just two. It probably would have stayed that way – they were confined to their coop much more often due to fox-paranoia, and I didn’t want to cram more in and overcrowd them. However, a couple of weeks ...
