Dreaming of My Mother from Where Art & Life Meet

Laughing with Mom – Photo by John Kelly “Have you dreamt about her?” This was a question a number of people asked after my mother died.  But I wasn’t.  I hadn’t.  In fact I couldn’t remember dreaming about anything or anyone, until this past week.  Maybe it was because it was the first Thanksgiving since she […]

New Beginnings... from From the Strawberry Patch...

At this time of year, with graduations and end-of-school-year excitement,  my mind always travels back to those "last" days when I was young. There was so much anticipation of what was to come, what great things awaited, those things that were always just out of grasp and view. I ran across this photograph the other day. This was my graduation day from Vermont College in 1973. Mr. G and were just

Start where you are

One of the things I love about the resort where we stay is its focus on making wellness available. I can choose from 3-4 exercise classes every day. I usually workout in the gym, take a mile walk along the beach and then go to a yoga or stretch class.

The second day ...

dreaming quilts . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

I've been having very vivid dreams over the last several weeks. I think partly because finally, after four or five years of shoulder pain and then surgery recovery, I'm finally able to sleep through the night, pain free!

Whatever the reason, these dreams are ones that I remember when I wake up in the morning ... even days later. Which is unusual for me!  I've dreamed up a lot of stitchery/quilty projects, too.  One of which I felt compelled to act upon!

Last Thursday, I dreamed I created a quilt designed to hold an applique ...
