Some Lovely Finishes from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I would guess that about half of the quilts that we donate are made from quilt tops or blocks that are sent in by others.  Here are a few that we finished this week.

I think this quilt is so amazing.  The beautifully made blocks were sent in by Marci.  Penny sewed them all together for me and Kelly quilted it up for me.  Marci sent in many more blocks so you will be seeing more of these quilts in the future.  These blocks are 10.5" unfinished.

On the back, I used a blue, green and tan homespun that ...

Autumn Finishes from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I think I promised to write this post for my Friday finishes.  But I see I didn't hit the publish button.
Better late than never I guess!

I shared this fun quilt top in an earlier post.  I received a bunch of already pieced strips from Marci.  I decided to use them as sashing and just cut some large squares from various fall-colored leftovers from the last block drive.

I think it turned out really nice!

Dorothy sent in this lovely floral with the brown background.  I thought it worked beautifully on this quilt.

This quilt measures 54 x ...

Kid Quilts from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I have been pumping a number of smaller kid quilts into the pipeline in preparation for our year end donations to Bag of Love.  I did take a small donation to them earlier this month so I could confirm what they anticipate their needs will be.  Their greatest need this year are infant and teen quilts.

Here are a few that were completed this week.

Here is another quilt top made by Chris.  I really like all these simple tops made from bright colors.

Love this bright orange backing sent in by Suzanne.
And a big thanks to Penny for ...

Some Friday Finishes from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

The finished quilts coming through the pipeline lately are kinda all over the place.
Here are a few we finished last week.

This lovely little quilt top was donated by Chris.  She actually gifted quite a few tops.  I had some super soft corduroy yardage that was donated and thought the gray would work on the back of this one.

This quilt measures 38" square.

Check out this lovely appliqued quilt top that Amanda sent in.  The workmanship was amazing!
I would have loved to do a custom quilt job on it but there just isn't time.

Amanda also ...

A Few Veteran Finishes from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

We still have lots of the RWB Churn Dash to turn into Veteran Quilts but today I want to share a couple quilts that came through other means.

This first one was made by my friend Jeanne.  She did a little "shopping" in the MHMH stash.  I love what she did with this eagle panel.

The panel and I think the eagle fabric all came from Karen.

Local quilter Laura quilted in some stars that really show up in the light-colored star fabric.

This quilt measures about 50 x 60.

Jan sent in this lovely RWB quilt top.  I liked ...

A Package from Beth from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Okay, it was actually two packages from Beth.

It was like Christmas when they arrived!

The first box I received had four quilts all made by Beth.

The first one I saw was this cute dinosaur quilt.  The center of the quilt has the cutest green and turquoise dinosaur print.

This one will definitely be going to Bags of Love in their September shipment.

A fun frog quilt was next.

These two quilts show that you can simply take a fun fabric and add some coordinating borders, and you have a great quilt for a kid.

I thought this design ...

Block Drive - Jewel Box Blocks from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

It is time to announce the next block drive.  I have always called these blocks Buckeye Beauty blocks but Nann called them Jewel Box blocks.  I like that better!

Here is the block we will be making.  The blocks measure 8.5" unfinished.  They are comprised of two 4 patches and two HSTs.  They are lots of fun to make.

The colors we will be using are black or black/white prints for the chain (predominately black please).

The background should be white, white on white, or a very low volume print with a white base.

The HSTs can be ...

Finishes Galore from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Oh My Goodness - I have lots of finishes for you today!

This first one is another Happy Block Quilt.  This one was not made from the block drive - this quilt top was sent in by Mari.  The little woodland animals in the centers are adorable.

Thanks to Deana, we had the perfect flannel for the back - more woodland animals!

This one measures 32 x 40".

The blocks for this space themed quilt did come from the block drive.

Both of these fabrics for the back were given to me by my friend Julie a long time ago.  It was nice ...

Just Two from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

This week is becoming another crazy one for me.
It is also a crazy week for my friend Janet so I only have two finishes to share with you.  I am hoping to get more photos done later this week - I think I have a least ten more finishes to share!

I did finish up this Two Step quilt. I am hoping all of the blocks are on their way to me and I can finish up making all the quilts for this drive.

This is the 15th quilt we have completed for the drive.  I am hoping we are ...

Friday Finishes from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Oops...I forgot to write this post before I went to bed last night.  I have been a bit busy lately...

We are up to 86 finishes from this block drive!  This one is all about cars.
Janet laid out the blocks.  We decided to make this ne a bit bigger for a tween or teen.

We put this fabulous car print sent in by Nancy on the back.  Local quilter Laura finished this one for me.  She even sewed on the binding!

This one measures 56 x 64".

We have almost cleaned up the happy block themed stacks. (There ...

Another Handful of Quilts from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I have another handful of quilts to share today.
Almost all of these quilt tops were donated by one of you.
I appreciate these lovely tops so much!

This lovely pinwheel quilt top was sent in by Nann.

Elizabeth sent in this fun shoe and handbag print that looked fabulous with this top.  I did have to add a bit of red to make it large enough.

I think this quilt measures about 60 x 70".

Hoq cute is this colorful butterfly quilt top sent in by Mina.  The turquoise background was perfect for all those pink and purple butterflies ...

Red White and Blue from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I have been pulling out some of the Churn Dash blocks and making some quilts for deliveries in August and September.  These are the quilts for Veterans.

Churn Dash quilt #10 is this fun row quilt.  Local quilter Kelly finished this ne up for me.

Her quilting really shows up on the back - which was donated by Karen.

This quilt measures 60 x 66".

I put together this patchwork quilt made from some of the scraps from previous Veteran quilts.  I just cut 6" squares out of whatever I could.

Each square got a spiral quilted on it. The lovely ...

Some Two Step Finishes from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

The receipt of Two-Step blocks has slowed.  We have actually done a pretty good job of keeping up with them.  I think many of them are just waiting for me to quilt them up.

Here are a few that were completed this week.

Here is Two Step Quilt #10.  I admit these all look very much the same from a distance.  But up close, you can see the details that make them unique.

On the back is another beautiful autumn leaf print sent in by Stephanie.

This quilt measures 51 x 68".

On Quilt #11, I added in a piece ...

It Takes a Village from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I can't thank enough for all the quilt tops we have received here at Many Hands and Many Hearts.  It has been a bit of a challenge to get them all quilted in a timely manner.

But we continue to work away at them!

This quilt top was sent in by Mina.  I think she sent in a total of three in this design.  It is definitely a design I want to try.

This turquoise fabric sent in by Karen wasn't quite big enough, but I just added in a chunky scrap I had to make it work ...

Sue's Quilts from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Today's quilts were all donated by Sue.  She has a friend who just happens to have kids who live here in Eugene so her quilts hitch a ride and get delivered right to my living room.  It sure saves her a lot of freight charges and she is able to send completed quilts.  All I have to do is attached a label.

This one is so bright and happy.  I put it in the teen pile.  I have always loved this pattern - it is a great one for jelly rolls.  Sorry, I don't know that name of it ...

Oh Scrap! : Quick Finish from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Last Sunday, I shared my process for starting a new scrappy strip quilt out of some leftover fabrics.

Today, I am ready to share the finished quilt!

I am really pleased with how it turned out.  I hope that it finds its way to some young teen.

This quilt measures about 55 x 70.

There are some great inspirational saying on some of the fabrics.

I used this fabulous striped fabric that Nann sent me long ago.  I love this fabric so I have been holding onto it until the perfect quilt came along.  I think I still have enough ...

Lots of Two Step Finishes from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I thought I only had four finished Two Step quilts to share today but I was surprised by five.

These quilts go together so quickly!

I will admit that most of these quilts made with these blocks all look the same.  I even find it hard to differentiate them and I get to see them up close.  So I was really pleased that I received some fall-themed panel pieces to make some of the quilts more unique.

This lovely one is Two Step quilt #5.  The panel was sent in by Stephanie.  The blocks used in this quilt all have ...

Some Two Step Finishes from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I have been receiving lots of Two Step blocks in the post so I have been busy making quilts from them.

Here are a few...

This one was sent as a quilt top by Holly.  There are so many pretty sunflower prints in this one.

Holly also sent some nice backing fabrics in her package.  Including this pretty pumpkin colored one.  I love it on the back of her quilt.

If you are keeping track, this is Two Step quilt #2 and measures 46 x 64".

Lots of the blocks I receive have pretty leaf prints in the 5" square ...

Finally, a lot to Share from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Lots of quilts to share today.  Some of these tops are made by me but many have been donated by generous hearts.

First up is this cozy all flannel quilt.  I received a bunch of flannel bits, so I cut a bunch of it up into 6" squares.  Janet then decided on a pleasing layout for them.

Here is the back.  I don't have a huge stash of flannel fabric but I did have two that had an outdoor theme.  Neither were big enough but I made them work.  Local quilter Laura quilted this one up and sewed on ...

More Happy Quilts from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I am still working through blocks I received for the Happy Block drive.  Soon it will be time to schedule another drive for kids.

I really want to get these done - they are stacked all over the place!

This is Happy Block quilt #76.  It has castles, princesses, knights, dragons and unicorns.  I think there might even be a mermaid or two.  The little girl in me loves this one.

On the back is Tinkerbell.

This quilt measures 48" square.

Quilt #77 is all about monkeys!

I knew I was going to have to let go of a print I ...
