When my customer Kathy brought me her adorable chickens quilt, she also brought this pretty Pink and Black Flowers Block quilt.
The combination of colors that she used is very vibrant and it just needed the finishing touch.
My customer Kathy brought me an applique quilt of adorable chickens to stitch up for her.
This quilt is for her daughter, who actually purchased the pattern and the fabric and asked her mom to make it for her. Although this would have been fun to add great details with some custom quilting, Kathy wanted only an edge to edge design.
My customer Colleen called me to say that she had a big top to be quilted. I couldn't wait to see what she created. When she arrived with it, needless to say I was excited to get to stitch this one. This is her Navy and White Hunter's Star Quilt.
It's always fun to see what my customers bring to me to quilt for them. Colleen's creations never disappoint. This is her Gray and Green Star Quilt. Isn't it beautiful?
I actually remembered this time to take a "before" picture. As I've mentioned before, her quilts are always a pleasure to work on because they are well constructed.
Since the tops are so busy, we pick a panto design that's not too detailed.
For this stack of tops, we chose the Fascination panto. Quilters Dream 80/20 batting was used for all.
She always provides soft flannel backings that are so snugly.
The last quilt was actually for her grandson. Evidently he ...
Last fall, my customer Linda, had contacted me to request my basting service for 3 quilts she planned to hand quilt. Though I don't get these types of requests often, it is another service I offer. Two of the quilts were smaller pieces and the third was an antique quilt she purchased at the Sisters Quilt show many years ago. I was able to complete the basting fairly quickly and she picked them up when she dropped off her Brown and Black Diamonds quilt.
A couple of weeks later, when I called her to tell her that the Brown ...
read moreI'm grateful that one of the local quilt shops has been recommending me to their customers recently who are looking for someone to help them finish their project. Gail is one of those new customers. This quilt is for her granddaughter and her granddaughter helped with the piecing.
The final few weeks of last year found me busy with the usual December craziness.....both kids' birthdays and all the craziness that surrounds Christmas. Having a child who still believes in Santa (the older one has also yet to utter any suggestion that he knows the truth) is fun but exhausting. The gift wrapping had to happen at a fast pace while they were in school, we had to remember to move our elf Twinkle every night and we had to set our alarm clock for midnight on Christmas Eve so we'd get up and get the gifts ...
read moreBetween shopping, decorating, preparing for the holidays and celebrating the birthdays of both of my kids, the month of December is always extra crazy for me so now that the largest extent of the tasks are over, I can catch up with the last of the customer orders that I've quilted recently.
This is Colleen's Blue quilt for the other nephew that I mentioned in the previous post but she used a totally different pattern. I can't say which I like better. They're both great.
In process. The top thread is Omni Teal and although that sounds like it would look very Green-ish, it's actually a really pretty shade of Blue which worked perfectly for this one.
I truly love how the stitching takes a pretty quilt top.....
My friend Susan also made herself a Hunter's Star quilt featuring adorable vintage trucks.
While the piecing is certainly great...
You can see the deer head print and arrows print in this "before" close up.
Here's how it looks after. The quilting added so much beautiful texture.
The after close up. I love how it enhances the piecing.
