My 2024 Fall Cross Stitch Recap from Fat Quarter Shop's Jolly Jabber

Fall seems to have finally decided to roll into Texas this week, so what better time is there to round up my Fall stitching? With games, practices, appointments, and travel filling up my calendar, I had time to tackle some great makes these past three months, and I’m excited to share all of my finished pieces with you!

The Cross Stitch Journal in aqua with pink and aqua thread, a pen, and a pink roll of washi tape styled around it.

Below are all of my Fall cross stitch projects I’ve been working on. Between Square Dance, Stitching with the Housewives Monthly Weigh Ins, and a host of Holiday stitches, I’ve been stitching up a storm!

Cross Stitch Update from Jo's Country Junction

I was starting to think I lost my cross-stitch mojo but that isn’t true. I honestly just haven’t had any time. With Fall here and the time change just around the corner, I’m soaking up every bit of outdoor time that I can. The other day on my way home from work, my grandson Carver …

Three or More Things To (Maybe) Beat The Stubborn Blues from Canadian Needle Nana

I read this line recently...you are a work in progress because life isn't done with you yet. I definitely mistakenly thought the opposite. That at my seven decades and counting age I'd have everything figured out, things would be settled down to a point where life would be smooth sailing through whatever years are left. The thing that might derail that would be unavoidable illness. But no, there are still people/family worries, messy situations and uncertainty. That last thing is creeping into my thoughts more. I've questioned how I'm handling certain present situations which ...

Cross Stitch Update from Jo's Country Junction

WOW. I can’t believe another week rolled around. Sadly I didn’t get a lot of stitching done. I’ve been out and enjoying the outdoors. Yesterday I gave up any crafty endeavors on my day off and instead opted to head out for a walk in a neighboring town. The trees are really getting pretty here …

Still Here, Stitching and Thinking Out Loud from Canadian Needle Nana

We have been having a gentle ease into autumn with just one overnight frost so far and temperatures reaching into the double digits most days. We did have a terrific thunder and lightening storm the other day that brought unique clouds overhead looking like something AI generated. These are called Asperitas clouds. Even the clouds are fancier these days. I only ever knew of Cirrus and Cumulus clouds growing up.

Cindy Broderick photo
In moving the sewing room, I found, amongst many other things, a couple of autumn pieces to share with you. Crayon colouring and embroidery by me...Crabapple ...

Cross Stitch Update from Jo's Country Junction

I have very little of an update to make. I really think I only picked up my cross-stitched twice last week. WNBA playoffs have me watching television and then on Sunday Kalissa and the boys came over and we watched the Minnesota Vikings play football. I have no idea what has happened to me and …

Packed from Chocolate Cake Quilt Designs

Nope, not a suitcase.

This little cross stitch project was a freebie contained in a direct marketing mail piece for a cross stitch magazine. I deemed it stitch-worthy and dropped it into a file folder in my sewing room, where it’s been for who-knows-how-long.

The final image size for this design will be small, approximately 5″ x 3″. But small doesn’t always equate to fast or easy, as the stitching chart for this design is what I would refer to as packed. A packed stitch chart is one where every square in most sections of the grid contains ...

Cross Stitch Update from Jo's Country Junction

There wasn’t much cross stitch happening at my house this week. I’ve been busy watching WNBA and the games were intense enough that not much stitching got done…plus my daughter Kalissa and the boys were here watching too. I also had a busy weekend and day off…stitching will happen again. Right now, other things and …

It goes without saying that I’m still quilting Remember Me, although I finished the feather.

On a happy note, I finished stitching Peace on Earth.

I’d like to frame it if I can find the right size frame. It’s a bit of an odd sized square.

Cross Stitch Finish: Miriam Dowd from Jo's Country Junction

Yippie!!! I’m so excited to have my Miriam Dowd sampler framed and ready to hang. You can see from my smile that I’m happy!! You might remember me stitching on this over the summer. I stitched it with the called for colors except for the black. It called for DMC 310. I used Mascara instead. …

Enjoyed Cross Stitching Today from Quilting My Way

Woke early after Patrick.  He went golfing.  He's looking and acting a lot better. Being off Chemo is awesome! He's not having the issues with Chemo.  Hope he doesn't go back on too soon.

I vacuumed and cleaned up a bit. Then Ron and I went walking.  Only got 5 laps in.

Patrick got home when we were done.

I got a lot done today.

I was enjoying this. The tail was finished today and all that above got done.  I rolled the scroll to get more done.

I really enjoyed working on this and felt Happy ...

Mini Fabric Baskets from Threads On My Socks

Fun little sews using all the fabrics. It has been fun to make them from current & older fabric designs. They make cute little reminders of fabrics that I love & can be switched out for moods & seasons.

I use them at my sewing table to hold clips & small stuff. They work great to hold my current project zipper, tabs and any small bits while I'm at the sewing machine. They can be used anywhere you like & make great little gifts.

These minis were designed to be fun & cute. So, pulling all the fabrics from my stashed goodies was a surprise ...

Thrifting, Gardening Hazard, Autumn Slow Stitching from Canadian Needle Nana

The Japanese Anemones are making the late garden shine again this year. A reader told me mine are called "Splendens" and splendid they are! Their leaves are also a pretty shape and shade of green. And the bees love them too.

This patch is the result of transplanting a couple of summers ago. They have spread!

The lovely American Goldfinches have also been plentiful lately. Lots of thistle around the property to meet their nesting needs.
I did get to go thrifting this summer and had great luck. I've always loved Charley Harpers' birds so this book just had ...

Sunday Stash September 15, 2024 from Quilt Paint Create

No change in the numbers.

It’s been a week. Work got busy, not in a good way. I received some unpleasant news, and because those things come in 3s, it happened twice more. All were unrelated.

I know I worked on my projects, but it’s a blur. I made progress on quilting Remember Me. Peace on Earth is close enough to a finish that it’s hard to put down. I’ve enjoyed working on it, but I’m eager to stitch some other projects too.

Here’s the basket with all my quilt kits (3), stitch projects ...

Cross Stitch Update from Jo's Country Junction

I had a nice amount of stitching time this week. I am gearing up for next weekend when I head off to a cross stitch retreat in Osage Iowa. I just love going. Over the next week, I need to organize and pack…and dream about all the things I’ll get stitched there (but really won’t …

Simple September Terrific Twos from Canadian Needle Nana

 In twos...

The two of us went down to the pond early evening during the time some call the Blue Hour.  As we turned a corner of the skating shack, I saw clearly two fawns lying together in the tall grass at the far end of the pond. Luckily Ned was entranced with something on the ground and hadn't seen them. I watched for a minute, then pulled him back to quietly exit the scene. No photo, just the beautiful image still in my mind.

My indoor Geraniums have put on quite a show outside this summer. The heavy ...

September 2024 Short List and OMG from Quilt Paint Create

It’s almost Fall. I love everything about this time of year – cooler weather, the red, orange, gold and brown leaves against a crisp blue sky, the smell of cinnamon and nutmeg, pumpkin everything, fresh apples. The days are getting shorter, with less time outside. The sewing room calls my name.

I didn’t finish anything last month, nor did I start anything new. I wanted to but already had a lot going.

I began The Short List many years ago to create short-term goals and a way to focus. I change things up as my interests change.

Project 1 ...
