Critter Motif Quilt by Kari Schell
I am preparing for a get away weekend with some quilting friends and decided I wanted to work on my critter quilt.  Although I don't make many of the quilts I design in EQ8 (there just aren't enough hours in the day), this one is calling me to complete it.

If you missed my tutorial on drafting the critter quilter in EQ8, you can find it here.

A Bag for National Quilting Day from On Point Quilter

Saturday -- March 21, 2020 is National Quilting Day.  With many of us staying put to help fight the cornavirus threat, there might be some extra time to get a little bit of extra quilting done.

There is lots to inspire you in this blog post.
(1)  I will share my process for embellishing a canvas bag using my Cricut Maker and a fun block created in EQ8.
My first effort with both vinyl and transfer material.

From Electric Quilt to Cricut Design Space

I recently purchased a Cricut Maker and have been having fun learning how to use it.  This week I watched a tutorial on using Print and Cut.  With Print and Cut you can print an image on your home printer and then cut it out using a Cricut machine.  The light bulb went on and I thought -- this is how we could feature those complex EQ8 designs that we ...

Cutting Fusible Web with the Cricut Maker from Craftcore

If you own the Cricut Maker, you know that you can cut a variety of materials, including fabric. But can you use it to cut out shapes from fabric that is already backed with fusible web and the paper liner for your applique projects?

For some background, I was working on a baby quilt for my daughter who is due to be born next month. I wanted to applique some bunny shapes in the centre of my blocks.  I couldn’t find anyone online talking about using my favourite applique supply: Double Stick Fusible Web. I’ve filmed my experience ...

How to Make Personalized Vinyl Water Bottle Labels with Cricut Maker from Craftcore

I recently purchased a Cricut Maker, and my first vinyl project was making personalized Batman water bottle decal labels for my Batman-obsessed son. I transformed  Contigo water bottles by personalizing them with my son’s name.

I’ll give you a quick walk-through of what I used to decorate these cups and the basic process of how to create a simple single-colour design featuring a shape with letters appearing in the negative space.

Penguin Mug Rug from On Point Quilter

Picture
I saw this post on Facebook this week and thought this would be a perfect New Years resolution.

Do you have a New Years resolution this year?

Penguin Mug Rug

Last week I shared about cutting my applique patches using a Cricut Maker.  This week I decided I needed a new Mug Rug and decided that with the ease of cutting out designs with the Cricut Maker, I would create a mug rug that featured some seasonal applique.

The penguin in my mug rug came from the EQ library -- so this was a fun and easy project for Electric Quilt ...

Kari's Christmas Gift
I gave myself a Cricut Maker for Christmas this year. Or maybe it is just a year-end bonus to myself.  I ordered around Thanksgiving and have been purchasing supplies and watching tutorials to learn how to use it. Truthfully -- I was just procrastinating.
Background:  I owned a Silhouette Cameo (first edition) and had pretty mixed results with cutting fabric.  I had some nice cuts but wouldn't have achieved that without some great advice from my blog readers.  Check out my paper snowflake project last year -- which was done on the Silhouette Cameo.)

Given my fairly ...
