Bottle Cap Art from StitchinGirlMary's Blog

Bottle caps are recyclable. But since they are small, they sometimes get lost in the process — so I tend to toss them in big bin for “future crafts”. When I finished the exterior of my Little House (she-shed) I used the stash I had saved up to create some exterior interest. I don’t remember why I decided to do this, but I liked the effect and it was very easy to do.

Because bottle caps can be brittle, I drilled pilot holes in them first with my hand drill before using screws to attach them directly into the boards ...

Making Lemonade from From the Strawberry Patch...

I'm looking on the bright side these days; if I didn't, the whole situation of living in a construction zone would drive me over the edge. I knew that I had to shift the focus to that which I could change for the better. As someone who craves order and tidiness I am faced daily with my biggest enemies: disorder, clutter, chaos and dust; piles and piles of it! My challenge is to deal with all of

How To Create a Quilted Home Portrait (revised) from StitchinGirlMary's Blog

Part One: My Barn Workshop

A few years back I wrote a blog post on how to create one of my quilted home portraits. Unfortunately, it seems that the photos from that post have disappeared to data heaven. If you are reading this to learn how to create your own quilted home, skip to Part 2 — I won’t mind </p>

While indoor dining is prohibited, New York City is allowing restaurants to take over the sidewalks and even spill out into the streets, many are taking advantage of this by decorating huge planters with flowering vines, stringing up… Continue reading Pandemic & Creativity in NYC

Finishing Up from From the Strawberry Patch...

Remember that ongoing porch project? This is how things looked a little over a week ago when I left for Hampton, VA and MidAtlantic Quilt Fest. The scaffolding was still in place and the units were all framed out to receive the screen panels. We had four glass sections installed in the gable end before I left. Even though the space will be screened in, the screen panels have pull-down vinyl

Spreadsheet Required from From the Strawberry Patch...

We had the youngest two grandchildren for a few days last week, it was wonderful and BUSY! They're in the third and first grades now and they both have lots of fun activities besides school. Our son had emailed me calendar items to add to my daily schedule as reminders but I find that I need a spreadsheet. It's the way I visualize and plan. It might be antiquated but that works for me, and so,
