The Positivity QAL - Choosing Fabrics from Sew Preeti Quilts

Imagine a large buffet like Golden Corral (Paul's favorite).  With over fifty items on the table, does it really matter if two or three items are blah?  You will only taste 4-5 items, may be 10 if you are more adventurous. Ahem!!!

Now imagine a simple meal of tomato soup and grilled cheese. Everything must be fresh and tasty and well-seasoned. There is no room for blah. It could ruin the entire meal.

Such is this simple Plus Block. With only two main fabrics, it is important that they work well together.

The Personality of Color from Where Art & Life Meet

I think of color as having personality. I get a sense of colors much the way I get a sense of people at a dinner party. There are those who dominate the conversation, others who are quiet, yet have really interesting things to say once encouraged. Some people light up when seated next to someone… Continue reading The Personality of Color

Crochet Giant Granny Square

At the begining of this new lockdown I started searching my stash of yarns with the aim of creating a new multicolor giant granny square blanket.

I picked up all the colored yarns I found for needles or crochet number 4, keeping the brown, grey and beige for another project.

Here I used the brand Fonty quality Ambiance 100 % superwash Woll superfine SW.

This is a very simple and pleasant project. It is never boring as you change colors. I love playing with varigated colors when I work on a project, that is quilting or knitting.

Color and Design from Where Art & Life Meet

When I was working as a contributing editor at Elle Magazine, the Fashion Director called me out loudly in front of the entire staff. She asked me if I was color blind, not in a concerned way, but as an accusation meant to humiliate, and demonstrate just how awful she thought my sense of color… Continue reading Color and Design

Quilt Challenge Day 2 from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

I made this quilt when my mom was fighting cancer and Alzheimer's. Life felt deeply depressing, so I designed it to give us both a little cheer. (I really need to take a better picture though.)

Sunday Quilt Inspiration: Sugaridoo Bernina QAL from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

Yesterday I told you that I've caught up with the Quilt-Along that Mettler Thread and Bernina sewing machines are sponsoring through the Sugaridoo blog. It's a fun QAL that you can join at any time. And it's also a beautiful way to be inspired. These are just a few of the thousands of photos on the QAL Facebook page.

Baby girl quilt

After a very long absence from my blog, I am back with the last quilt I achieved.
It was a very easy and quick baby quilt to complete, though hand quilted.
I started end of September and finished beginning of November, just in time before flying to Paris :
last stitches the night before!

This quilt is a gift for my niece who decorated the bedroom of her future daughter using very soft colors. I first intended to sew a quilt using my beloved Liberty fabrics but, after I received the pictures of the wallpapers, I put them away and decided ...

Color Play from Nestlings By Robin

Do you ever just pile up pieces of
fabric to photograph and see
how they look together?
This grouping came home from the
shop with me and I hadn't been
putting them together on purpose
but they look lovely together!
What quilt would you make with them?
