Curved Cornerstones + 101, 102, 103, 104, 105 from Virtual Quilter

I am glad I do not have to make a choice from today’s designs to go and buy fabric and start cutting! there is not a lot to separate them so I think i have started with my least favourite, but still very much a favourite.

The second one looks more like a beaded project than Log Cabin Cornertstones.

My first thought when I opened this design was ‘look at those round corners’.

The one above would make a stunning tiled floor, or perhaps a feature wall.

I would like to add some wide borders to all of these ...

Cornerstone + Blues 101, 102, 103, 104, 105 from Virtual Quilter

Part of my brain wants to brighten up this project file, but a different part of my brain is seeing antique quilts when I open the file up. I like antiques, so it will stay like it is!

It is always interesting to see how much minor changes will change the overall effect … and I like the change between the first and second designs.

Bigger change, but I am not as impressed this time.

Very interesting … I love it!

I like the last one for today, and this week’s Log Cabin retreat.

More Log Cabin designs, mid week, next ...

Log Cabin Mixed 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 from Virtual Quilter

This week’s Log Cabin project file has a collection of different Log Cabin blocks, and the design above is mostly Chimney’s and Cornerstones with and without curves. I like the first design!

Still lots of Chimneys and Cornerstones in the second, but a bit more variety in the Log Cabin variations.

All the ones above have two variations of Courthouse Steps.

Love the one above … my favourite for today!

An interesting design to finish off today.

More Log Cabin designs mid week, next week.

Cornerstones + 71, 72, 73, 74, 75 from Virtual Quilter

Don’t see a lot of Cornerstone Log Cabin quilts, which is a pity as they can be very interesting designs.

I like the first one, and the second one …

… and the third one too, but would like it better if the dark and light fabrics were swapped.

The one above is what happens when Cornerstone blocks and Barnraising layout meet, and four blocks are turned around.

Love the last one!

I have to admit that this time last week I was at a retreat with accommodation, workspace etc. housed in an old warehouse. Some stitching was done between conversations ...

Cornerstones + 66, 67, 68, 69, 70 from Virtual Quilter

Interesting.

Love the second one! I would love it with just plain old Log Cabin blocks too.

The middle design for this week’s five minute retreat from the rest of the world is a nice one.

Interesting! And my coffee cup is empty, so will have to get a refill before I add the last design for today.

Love the last design for today. There will be more next week, mid week.

I should have added four more all dark blocks to my favourite design for this week … the middle one in the top row of the group photo ...

Curved Cornerstones + 96, 97, 98, 99, 100 from Virtual Quilter

Middle of the week so time to spend a few minutes looking at Log Cabin quilt designs.

Like the first design.

Second one is interesting, but room for improvement …

… better, but still more room for improvement.

Getting better all the time!

I think that is about as far as I can go to improve this project file so the file will be placed in the filing cabinet for future reference if required, but will not be active in the foreseeable future.

More Log Cabin designs mid week, next week.

Curved Cornerstones 41, 42, 43, 44, 45 from Virtual Quilter

Middle of yet another week, and even though we are not confined to home, we are staying here except for necessities. There is not much else to do anyway as pretty much everything on the calendar has been cancelled.

Curved Cornerstones was a result of me asking myself a question … What if Chimneys and Cornerstones got mixed up with Curved Log Cabin blocks?

The results are interesting!

I like the one above, but it needs a bit of dark in the centre, and so does the one above that!

If we have to stop socializing for long enough I may ...

Red and White Logs 101, 102, 103, 104, 105 from Virtual Quilter

The mid week log cabin retreats have been out of their usual schedule this month, but you will not miss out on seeing about the same number of designs as any other month.

It will be like attending a quilter’s retreat without leaving home, though I don’t think I will mention to people in my real life I am spending a few days retreating … virtually!

The second and third designs today are almost the same … but not quite. Hope you can see the difference, and I like both of them.

The one above has some interesting little details ...

Cornerstones 51, 52, 53, 54, 55 from Virtual Quilter

Sometimes I ignore some of the more basic project files for months at a time, then when I open them up I see designs which I still love. This file was opened last when I set up a new computer some time ago.

I probably have enough Log Cabin quilt designs using many of the variations of the basic block to keep sharing them for years to come, but perhaps I need some sort of roster so that some files don’t sit around for too long without a breath of fresh air.

Love the one above!

In contrast to ...

Curved Cornerstones + 86, 87, 88, 89, 90 from Virtual Quilter

Interesting. It seems like only yesterday I shared Log Cabin designs, but that is because this post has been scheduled so I don’t miss any days, especially mid week, during what is a busy week.

Something to try while sitting at the sewing machine … juggling some fabric balls.

Probably not a great idea because of all the sharp objects we have in our sewing spaces!

Love the one above!

The one above looks like it was designed by a drunk spider … and it would be a challenge to piece even if you only thought about having a drink!

Love ...
