Solutions from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. How is everybody doing today? My yesterday amounted to one frustrating day of sewing. Fortunately, I believe I have things sorted out now, and today should go better...right after I mop the floor. I'm not including floor-mopping in the "better day" category, but it must be done.

Things started out okay. I spent a little extra time on the morning's slow-stitching so that I could finish off this third of seven pieces for the Girls' Getaway quilt. I think, of the seven, this one has the most stitching

It's a Start from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. I'm writing fast this morning because Mike and I are heading out to the RV show today. We're not in the market for an RV, but we always enjoy looking at what's new. I believe the fifth wheel and truck camper we have now will probably be our last RVs. Before the show, we're dropping Mike's truck off for some needed service and then getting our beloved Egg McMuffins for breakfast. Comfort food, you know. So, you can see it's going to be a busy day.

Sunny Day from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Well, what can I say? The sun rose this morning, just like always. It gives me hope that "normal" can return to rule the day. I appreciated the many comments I received from yesterday's post. We're all in this survival game together, my friends, and we're going to be okay.

My day was spent licking my wounds and doing things I enjoy, trying to regain some serenity. I spent a little extra time on my slow-stitching. It seemed completely appropriate to finish off the second of seven stitcheries for the Girls' Getaway quilt ...

One Foot in Front of the Other from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's hard to know what to say or where to start. To start, I'll tell you about how my day went yesterday. Like most Americans it was hard for me to concentrate on much of anything, but I managed to get in a little bit of time in the sewing room. Enough happened there to cause me to decide to return to Plan A with the "Mosaic" quilt. For now, I'll tell you about what I learned and how I'll proceed. At the end, I'll say something about the way forward ...

One Day, One Block, Two Cats from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. I'd say it was a slow day here yesterday, and maybe it was. I got everything finished I hoped I would, so it's all good. In the sewing room, I made November's cat for the Cats in Pajamas quilt. All the "filler" pieces were cut at the beginning, and so when I make one of these blocks, I'm cutting only pieces for the cat and the pajamas. They aren't hard to sew together, but it does take several hours...for me, at least.

Smitty was my helper cat for the day ...

Next Steps from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. When we chatted yesterday, I thought we might get a decent day of weather. Before I could even finish my slow-stitching, it was raining again, and it rained most of the day. Today is looking more promising. I'm wanting to get outside and cut back the dahlias. It's time for them to move to the garage. (My dahlias are planted in pots.) It's looking as if today's weather might be more cooperative.

And, well, rainy days are good sewing days. Of course, nothing could happen until I finished off January's block ...

"Spices" Reveal: Saffron from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Finally, it's the day we've been waiting for...the reveal of my mystery quilt for the "Spices" prompt. Maybe it's not the day you've been waiting for, but I'm always happy when I can finally show these secret projects.

Okay, so "Spices." I wanted to do something floral. I couldn't figure out any other subject that wouldn't involve a line of jars. One idea was to do the flower from whence we obtain vanilla. It's a pretty flower. Here's one I found in the Openverse.

A Day of Rest from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. My wrist was begging for a day off from quilting, and so I relented. Actually, my wrist was just an excuse. We were slow off the blocks yesterday to do our grocery shopping. After finishing yesterday's post, I went downstairs to where Mike was sitting. "We don't have to rush out the door, do we?" he asked. And that was all the whining I needed to hear to help me decide to do my slow-stitching first. So, we weren't home until after 1:30 p.m. We found the kitties sitting in solidarity ...

A Day for Slow from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Happily, I can report that I'm feeling much better after my flu shot malaise of yesterday. Tylenol helped bring the fever down, but I still felt crummy for most of the day. Fortunately, I had my medicinal cat standing on me, checking my breathing and heart rate for most of that time.

It was a good day to spend slow-stitching. And I'm glad to report that my "Spices" quilt is finished. Here's your peek. I'll show it for real on the reveal date, November 1st.

Sickly from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends, and welcome to October. It's not such a good morning at this end. As expected, I'm feeling pretty puny this morning after getting our vaccines yesterday. The flu shot is to blame, I believe. It always makes me sick. We got our shots around 10:30 a.m. By dinner time, I could feel that I was developing a fever. Tylenol helped, but of course, it didn't get me through the night. I awakened last night shivering with chills to the point my teeth were chattering. This morning, I was running a fever ...
