I have all the blocks I need to make this rainbow project into a top. I have really enjoyed making this. I liked using my smallest pieces to make the string rectangles into something useful. By using the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. the colors are bright and happy. I have moved them to a box of their own and plan to take them with me to open sews for assembly.

I have orange cream candy ready for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. They look yummy. I think I am nearly done with these blocks. I still need a bit of licorice and chocolate. I have certainly enjoyed making these this year, and I had PLENTY of strings I needed to use. I am looking for a string project for next year or maybe 100.
Every color of candy is my favorite after I make them. All the purple sweet tooth blocks are finished for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I am thinking that I have too many rainbow scrap projects. I am struggling at the end of the month to get them all done. But, I really like them all. Maybe next year I will exercise a little more sense.
I am happy to dig around in my green scraps for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. This week I made green crumb blocks and added HSTS to make my sweet tooth blocks. I found this quilt on sane crazy crumby quilt blog here. The crumb centers are 4 1/2 inches with 2 1/2 inch HSTS. So, the side pieces are 2 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches and the top and bottom are pieces are 2 1/2 x 6 1/2. I think Jenny Doan did a you tube video.
And it was finally ...
read moreI have my candy blocks ready for April and the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. Angela dropped the hint for the color a little early, so, I quick made crumb blocks and tada.. candy. I have baggies of strings sorted by color for the year.
I woke up one morning, and, I wanted to make noodles. That was odd. Who wants to make noodles when you can open a bag from the store. The house was quiet, and, I cracked open a few eggs and started. It was a very sentimental time, and filled my heart with love for all the really great women who had taught me how to make noodles. I first thought of my Mother, who has been gone for 20 years. I could see her unrolling those long noodles and she talked about her Mother teaching her. It was an art ...

We have had a winter snow storm that has been very beautiful.
I have cut for easy breezy, fish school, and the stashbuster 2022 in aqua/ teal for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I can sit and do that.
what color is this one? I wish it could make up it's mind |
I am so thrilled to finally move this project from the 'maybe someday' to the wip list. I have a few string/crumb blocks made over the years by color and enough strings to add to them this year. These pieces of candy are sugar free,, so I can have as many as I want.
My 5 quilts progress report.
1. rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy - color red -candy - All the string blocks are sewn, trimmed, pressed and ready to sew into blocks. I trimmed them to 4 1/2 inches
2. full stop quilt that Angela is doing for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.- I made the letters for the purple row. I really like purple. That's it for letters. I hope to start making the rows now.
3. rhododendren mystery - hunter - After a count of finished hourglass blocks for the mystery, I was 60 short.
I started sorting for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy with 1 1/2 inch strips in red. I went through the entire gallon bag of strips and pulling any that were not at least 12 inches long. I had a nice little pile. I cut as many as I could into 1 1/2 inch squares for easy breezy blocks if there was 4 matching. If there was at least 3 inches left I put them together to make 4 patches, some will be used for blossom time and some will just be made into random 4 patches ...

'tis the season! It's been a busy few weeks around here; ones full of happy days, and lots of busy times and delightful holiday related discoveries. I'll start with this struggling Christmas cactus. This plant belonged to my mother-in-law. It wasn't in the best shape when I brought it here to live after cleaning out her home over four years ago. I haven't done a thing to it, except for weekly

No, the magazine quilt did NOT get quilted yesterday. Sigh... But it's on the long arm, and that's the first thing that gets done this morning once the girls go for their walk.

This is a late PIW, and I apologize for that. I've been quilting, though! So, no pins from me this week. Here's what some followers are finding. Let's start with Marie Dunn, who has some pretty modern quilts pinned.
