Pillowcases Dresses and More from Humble Quilts

As I am preparing to go to Uganda I dug deep into the dresses you made for my last mission trip.
I know I mentioned the schools we went to were so large it was hard to give them out.

We are working with a Ugandan  nonprofit one of the days. This non profit helps vulnerable women and children. I'll know more about it and be able to share more when I return. I will give them dresses and let them distribute them when needed. These are the 25 dresses I am bringing. Maybe you recognize one you made ...

 Camp Stitching

Last week we Camped for three nights in Pembrey Country Park  South Wales.
It was perfect weather for Sitting & Stitching
In between sightseeing.
Camping Pembrey Country Park

Ours is the Blue Tent on the left.

Feathered Friends

We had three regular visitors while we were there.
The Robin The Pigeon & The Blackbird

The Pigeon was ringed and very tame.
The Robin was quite cheeky and almost came inside our tent a few times!
And The Blackbird was collecting food to take back to his nest. We did see Mrs Blackbird too but she was much more wary of us and kept her distance.

The Stitching Inspector

September Happenings from From the Strawberry Patch...

We made a quick trip to the campground where our son and his family were staying this week for dinner out on Saturday evening; we wanted to help celebrate our favorite daughter-in-law's birthday (albeit a few days late). They're loving their new camper trailer and finding every excuse that they can to hit the road and explore the sights that our state (and those close by) have to offer. Gregory

Stringin' on a Friday from Humble Quilts

My friend Suzette sent me a photo of some "mindless" string blocks she is working on. Our hospitals are getting full to capacity with Covid patients and smoke has been heavy in the town she is in. She finds this kind of sewing is soothing and I agree!

I'll add that our governor has called in the National Guard to assist the local hospital. Not only are they shorthanded, but overwhelmed. I hope they get some relief from the added hands of the National Guard.

Here in Madras we have been relatively smoke free, which is so surprising. Nearby ...

Quilt Camp, Day #3 from From the Strawberry Patch...

Day three of Quilt Camp was a momentous one! As you can see by the clock on the wall, all twenty blocks were completed before 11:00 AM! This was reason for celebration, and a well-deserved break before lunch.Today was a perfect day, weather-wise; jump roping and spending some time outdoors was a great outlet for expending energy. We had story time after that, time spent with my all-time favorite

Beyond the Cherry Tree & More from Humble Quilts

Good morning! The cold night time temps means it's time to once again bring out the whopping 100x100" quilt for hand quilting in the evenings.
I got the table extended a bit so I can trim up a larger quilt and get it ready for binding, but thought it would be a good time to spread this out and see where I am on it.
I laugh when I see this block. It has 57 leaves! I was hand appliqueing this quilt but when I got to this block and got a few leaves hand appliqued on, I knew ...

Fall Camping from Mama Spark's World

As you saw in my previous post, most of the weekend was spent worrying about Cole.  We did get out and I did do a little sewing.  This is our set up.  Notice the pet tent?  Cole loves this while Finn, not so much, LOL.The fall colors were just beginning to peep out.Laying on this quilt on the couch looking out the window was Cole's favorite past time.  While Finn just wanted to sleep on the

Hamilton Ridge from Humble Quilts

Here's a little quilt I just finished last night. I haven't even washed it yet.

I'm calling it Hamilton Ridge since that is where we camped last weekend and I got most of the hand quilting completed while there.   Am waiting to hear from one person about a quilt she may or may not have sent (not international) My intent is to send this to the person who hasn't received a quilt in the swap.

Here is my inspiration antique little quilt. I'm positive I made one similar for a swap in the past. I ...

Sneak Peek: BLOCK Magazine Summer 2020 from The Cutting Table Quilt Blog - A Blog for Quilters by Quilters

A note from Jenny.

My hope is by the time I’ve written this letter to you and BLOCK arrives at your home, that life will have returned to normal. My hope is the sun will be shining outside your window… you’ll be free to gather with friends and family… you’ll feel comfortable greeting neighbors and walking the dog again, and a trip to the beach might be just around the corner. It’s hard to imagine after weeks of being separated from loved ones and anxiously watching the television, but I have great hope that we’ll make it through…many ...

Sunday Quilt Inspiration: RVs from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

Hey, I found this really awesome Etsy listing at https://www.etsy.com/listing/239869781/rv-decor-camping-rules-primitive-rusticRichard has been bing-watching RV shows. The last one is about luxury RVs in the 3-400,00 dollar range. Not something we are the least interested in for ourselves, but it's fun to see what is out there in the world of big-spenders. Of course, this got me thinking of quilts with campers and RVs. And guess what? Yes, of course, there are a few.

Fall Cleaning from Becca's Crazy Projects

I've been looking at the front of the travel trailer and thinking how shabby it looks. I convinced Darling Husband to try out an outdoor cleaner
So much better! Although, now it is the end of the season and it is unlikely we'll be hitting the road anytime soon. At least it looks nice in the drive.

Camping from Polka Dots and Butterflies

I love to camp and this adorable panel hung on my tent on my last camping trip.  This pattern is from the Moda All Starts book All in a Row Again.  The designer is Pat Sloan. Her design had a camper on it but since we use a tent I had to add a tent to my panel.
