Christmas is coming! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

The days just seem to be blurring into each other. Where is the time going? I guess as long as you're having fun, that's all that counts!

I had to zip out to check on something at Fabricland and ended up hitting Micheal's to buy some yarn and bought a few things on sale at Fabricland! Of course, I did!! I hardly buy anything anymore, so I was OK with my few purchases.

But look what I spotted at Micheal's.

The Wine Tasting and Chocolate shop!

So, while it was sweltering outside and has been for ...

When a tree falls in the forest................. from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OK --- I feel like I'm somewhat back in business. I slept a LOT yesterday, with my leg propped up on the back of the sofa -- well, both legs on the back of the sofa (well-supported, mind you), and my knee is feeling better. I'm not going to lie -- I won't be running any marathons any time soon, but the physio suggested that I do exercises where I don't have to put weight on my knee -- like spin class, so I'll be back to spin class on Monday.

I walked both girls yesterday, but shorter than ...

Two degrees of separation from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Thank goodness I don't live alone. I would NEVER sleep. Well, that's not true, I would go to bed early and then be up at a ridiculously early time, but I seem to function best like that. DH is away, so I got up a little earlier than usual, and I've been so productive! I tried not to send any e-mail so people wouldn't think I'm a nut! Since he's gone, I didn't need to be quiet!

So you've all heard the premise of six degrees of separation, which implies that NO ...

Out of the mouths of ......... from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I hate to put a word at the end of that sentence because the word is NOT a good one.

I'm following a Facebook group for the Camino, and some of the comments would blow your socks off. The one that took the cake was a British person who commented how RUDE it was for people to smoke around other people. I think she was referring to the locals you meet in the villages. And granted, it is a shock to sit in an open-air cafe in Paris and have the people next to you smoke. Ashtrays on every ...

Progress on Green Tea! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Where were all of you with shoe recommendations BEFORE I left? I'm kidding, of course; only I can take responsibility for my shoe choice. But I have been thinking about my shoes, and I looked since the box was still in the garage.

AHA --- as I suspected. There is a WP on that label. What does that mean? These darn things are WATERPROOF, which was NOT what I needed on that trip.

The label on the shoe box

I checked out the shoes online, and people have raved about the shoes and there are TWO versions -- waterproof and not ...

What's in your backpack? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

If anyone tells you they look forward to a vacation, they are LYING. At least at my house. The days before leaving on holiday are the most stressful of my life! Although I'm a stress eater and I'm not eating much -- there isn't time! However, I'm going through a chunk of watermelon and chocolate milk, so it doesn't go bad!

It never seems to matter how much in advance I start prepping; I always run into a very stressful day on the last day! Sigh..................   I think it's just me. But that's OK ...

What's your Plan B? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Yesterday my house was busier than an Amazon distribution hub! There was stuff being picked up and dropped off the ENTIRE day, and I was trying to work!!

I started to assemble the quilt top and had two rows together before the first interruption. I thought I was doing great.

Lynn was first, and she couldn't pick up the stuff any earlier as I had to make a pick-up from somewhere else, and I only did that the night before.

Back to work.

Then Emily stopped by to pick up something, and we hadn't seen each other in ...

The to-do list is shortening! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

This will be a short post this morning. If you check the next post, you'll see a VERY long post about my upcoming classes and clubs. There's much information to contemplate before you sign up for a class or a club. Classes and clubs are fantastic, but you must be mindful about signing up. Imagine a club where everyone signed up so they could see what everyone else was doing and didn't want to participate. It would be pretty dead!

I'm happy to report that the pile of stuff to do is getting smaller, even though ...

Bodily functions when traveling from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm not going to panic, but time is slipping through my fingers, and I'm NOT READY!

I managed to get seven of 30 blocks done for the magazine quilt. They are on the design wall, and I LOVE the quilt. I think you will, too, and it looks just like I envisioned. Of course, it does as I designed it in EQ8. I did NOT scan the fabrics in-- that takes way too long and too darn fiddly. I just choose similar colors, and away I went. Keep it simple! By the way, the design originated from something ...

Amazon to the rescue from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Choke! GASP!

Did I actually write that? Yes, I did, and as I've said all along, I have zero problem buying from them, but I MINDFULLY buy from them.

I bought my quick dry undies -- thanks to Lulu Lemon, those should arrive by Monday. I needed the water bottle holder for the backpack -- could ONLY find those on Amazon as well, as a clip to use with any disposable water bottle. And the last thing I need, which I could have bought at MEC but totally forgot was a holder for my cell phone. DUH!!! It was on the ...

Let sleeping dogs lie from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I have less than one week left before I leave. So far, no changes in the plane schedule. Am I getting things crossed off that list? YES -- but it doesn't seem like I'm moving fast enough! And I was up way past my bedtime last night. I was working on a customer quilt and went with a very dense pattern, the quilt was HUGE, and it took a long time to get it done.

The good news is that I was sewing while that was happening, so I got a fair bit done in the sewing department. However ...

Best laid plans from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

The best-laid plans went out the window pretty quickly! I took my car in for servicing and took my laptop to work on a document. However, when I got there to work on my document, I could not find it on Google Drive. Maybe their internet didn't allow that to happen? I checked and found it on Google Drive this morning. Sigh................

However, that didn't matter as I spent the entire time working on a blog post for YOU! Yep --- all the classes I'll teach in the fall and the sew-alongs/clubs for 2023. As usual, I ...

Read the labels from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm sure all of you are in the habit of reading labels. Here's an interesting thing about milk and milk substitutes. I remember many years ago when M started buying almond milk. "Oh, Mom -- you should try it -- it's the best." My response:" NO. I don't want to drink that stuff- it tastes terrible and doesn't have the same nutrients as regular milk. Not touching it!" And we had numerous discussions about it.

At some point, I tried it, and I never looked back. I LOVE almond milk now, and while I sometimes have to ...

Did I miss summer? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I dug out all my camping gear to see if there was anything I could use on this trip. I got the sleeping bag liner -- it's going to be too hot for the sleeping bag, and if I'm cold -- I'll use my sarong as an extra blanket, and wear my down jacket, which I still need to dig out. I loaded a book and my crossword book into the backpack and got the scale.

Only 7.5 pounds!

Yippeee --- only 7.5 pounds. So I still have to add the jacket, another set of clothes, my toiletries ...

A test walk from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I've been up for HOURS! And thank goodness because it's taken me this long to get the two presentations done for this morning! Oops -- just had to delete all the July Zoom recordings to ensure there would be room for August recordings. OK --- all the pictures are taken, edited, and loaded. I'm ready! I'm kind of excited as well! I haven't had a Zoom class in a while -- I miss EVERYONE!

Despite that massive list of things to do before I leave, I think I crossed one thing off yesterday! At this rate, I won ...

The work on Green Tea continues from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

The clock is ticking, and I wrote a list of everything I must do before leaving. I'm in good shape, although as much as I'm trying to be ahead of the game, I'm sure I'll be running around on the last day like an idiot!

I still haven't bought all my clothes! And certainly haven't packed - I mean, what's to pack? Someone asked about my backpack's weight and where I came up with the 10 lbs limit.

So here's the theory -- I'm NOT doing what they call a thru-hike, so ...

Rules to live by from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I had to laugh yesterday as the mystery book I was listening to mentioned the Camino! One of the potential suspects was walking the Camino, which ruled them out as a suspect! How timely!

Over the years, millions of "pilgrims" have walked the Camino, and many have written books about their journey. I've read the Jane Christmas book (What the Physic told the Pilgrim) -- that was probably the first one I read. I know there's a movie (The Way) I will watch when I get back. Watch that trailer -- it makes me cry!!!! I've seen the Shirley ...

An EPIC adventure from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I was checking out some adventure quotes last night and came across these two, which I think are great ones, to sum up, my philosophy about life.

Both spoke to me as I searched the internet while watering my trees in the front yard.

I've not traveled a lot in my life, but I've traveled across Canada several times in several different modes of transport - train, plane, car, and from coast to coast by bicycle.

Years ago, I practically begged the organizers of Katimavik to accept me into the program's first year. Something I would not have ...

This is a BEST friend from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Gosh --I love Zoom classes! We all get to sew, chat, ask questions, share our show and tell, eat a hot lunch (if we want), and well - it's just the best. We had another fantastic Monday sewing session via Zoom. I would feel so disconnected without that weekly get together as this sewing group has been in existence for many years. I'm going to say that it's been close to 20 years? Oh yes - it must be because M used to sleep under the cutting table on days that she came with me.

The members have changed ...
