Redwork Embroidery, Summer Bouquet, Swallowtail, Loving K.D. from Canadian Needle Nana

Late Summer Indoor Bouquet at the Farm
I don't usually make bouquets anymore as I leave it all for the bees and insects to enjoy. After a banner year for butterflies last year, not many to be seen this summer. Though I did catch this Black Swallowtail enjoying the hydrangea blooms.
It is always time for tea here. We make a giant pot and I drink a mug while it is fresh and leave the rest for Hubby. He can drink it warmed up in the microwave which is something I don't care for.

Love my slow stitching ...

Thursday's Three Free, Rare Moth, Tasty Meal, EPP Pyramids, Loving Labradors from Canadian Needle Nana

I took this photo a couple of weeks ago in August when the fall Asters just began to bloom. If it is the Yellow Wooly Bear Moth, I would be delighted as I have seen a couple of the pretty yellow caterpillars around the property like this one I photographed in 2019.
I watched the moth forever, fascinated with its furry like long legs and overall ghostly appearance.

Wendy at  Pieceful Thoughtsthis post shared a link to a slow cooker sausage and shrimp boil recipe that sounded delicious. I made my own version and this is the leftovers...shrimp ...

Sunny Coneflowers 1, 2 from Virtual Quilter

This project file was started with a collection of blocks which needed some attention, and the block collection has grown and is now appearing in some quilt designs.

Flowers are often seen dancing in the wind, but in some of these blocks the flowers seem to be following more formal dance routines.

Birthday Milestone, August Quilting and Stitching Thoughts from Canadian Needle Nana

Great Spangled Fritillary Butterfly

Isn't it interesting how certain projects stir our creative side.  I hope you also experience that feeling of joy, little jabs of joy, when you see a design and know it would be something you would love to work on.

Linda, The Texan Quilt Gal, felt that zing I'm sure when she saw Jen Kingwell's beautiful Wensleydale quilt featured on the cover of her latest book Quilt Recipes. Linda has made a lovely start on it so be sure to drop over and have a look.

I have Quilt Lovely which I bought ...

The Butterfly Dance from Adele Mogavero

This piece of music was composed for my Grand-daughter. When she was born, there was much rejoicing in our home!! Just picture a little girl twirling and skipping through a field of daisies. Sweet and precious. Much like a butterfly, poetry in motion. The Butterfly ....

Yellow Butterfly Hijinks: Colour & Inspiration Tuesday from Clever Chameleon

Yellow Butterfly Hijinks colour board at Clever Chameleon

The little blue flower that started a neighbourhood dispute…..

Or was it the yellow butterfly? Or someone else entirely…..?

Watching the local pollinators compete, you would be forgiven for thinking that flowers are scarce in Arkaroola right now. Which, I think you probably get the idea: they are not. The cooler weather, plus the months elapsed since our big rain, has resulted in a bloom of both flowers and insects. Wanted and otherwise.

But apparently some flower locales are more desirable than other blooming addresses. Even within the best Cattle Bush Restaurants there appears to be premium tables where the ...

Melanie’s Butterfly Quilt from Quilted Joy

Art and craft hobbies are something we do because we enjoy them. Which means that we tend to create things right up until we can’t anymore. What this means is that our loved ones are often left with not only beautiful creations made with our hands, but with half completed creations as well. That happened to Melanie. She came into possession of some beautiful butterfly appliqued blocks that someone in her family made. With the help of a grandmother, she put the top together but asked us to finish the quilt for her.

Christmas lights & PJs for all! from Nestlings By Robin

Our Christmas tradition has been
new pjs opened on Christmas eve.
This year will be a bit different
but there will still be pjs!

One of my boys found this
amazing Chinese Lantern Festival
for us to go to last night.
The rain let up just in time
and the weather was perfect for
strolling whilst drinking spiked hot chocolate:)
We entered through the archway and then
these moving and light changing
butterflies met us!

My family Chinese horoscope animals
include Me as the Monkey, a sheep,
a snake and a dragon.
These renditions are very
Hello Kitty.

This bird ...

Week 45 of 2019: Stitching Stuff from Life In Pieces

It's been a beautiful weekend, lots of warm sunshine. Hard to believe the forecast tomorrow is for cold with snow showers. We took advantage of the good weather to pay the Scientist in Training a visit.  So my 15 minutes of stitching the last few days has been of the hand variety, but that still counts.

Work has been a bit of a zoo, so I've worked late a few nights the last week. It was a struggle a couple of nights to make the climb to the sewing room, but it happened.

15 minute days/week = 7 ...
