A Weekend Away, and a Surprise Meeting from Romany Quilting

We have had a weekend away with the caravan club,  up at Himatangi so not too far to drive.  Just a short weekend trip, two nights away, so it seemed that we arrived back home before we knew it.  It is Spring here now, which can mean cool times along with the warm, and the season often brings blustery windy weather.

Staying at Himatangi Beach

Our club members enjoyed a scrummy morning tea on Saturday when we drove through to Sanson for a visit to Viv’s Kitchen “Food the way it used to be”.    We’ve been here before ...

Pin It Weekly #340 from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

Happy Weekly! I hope you are enjoying your week. We are set to vacay in Galveston soon. It's a family (the whole family) vacation. So I thought I'd look at some art that would help me get into the mood of beach, sun and water. These are from my board abstract art paint oil pastel prints

Last Days on Holiday from Romany Quilting

So what have we been doing on the last days of our holiday?  Plenty, it seems, although sadly  no more stitching took place, we were much too busy traveling and sight seeing.  We stayed in Solway Park, Masterton for a couple of nights.  Our group made the most of sheltering under the large shady trees for Happy Hour.  The clock has just ticked over to Autumn and already the ground is carpeted with fallen leaves.  These crunchy leaves almost want to make you to get out there and kick them around.

Stitching and Sightseeing from Romany Quilting

It’s been a busy old time away on holiday over the last couple of weeks and I’ve done a little stitching in between travel and sightseeing.  One of the items I’m working on is a stitchery, a cute little teddy bear which will eventually become a cot quilt.  I have done the teddy so far, and still have to stitch the surrounding flower garlands.  I’m ever hopeful that my grand-daughters will give us a great grandchild one day, guess I’ll just have to be patient and wait.

Sew Beachy Retreat from Mama Spark's World

I have just returned from a quilt retreat in California.  Venture beach to be exact.  I fly in there and meet up with some other quilty friends.   This is the third year we have all been together.   There are old friends and new.  I always bring Captain Jack along to my retreats.   I get photos of him throughout the time we are there.   He is now the official mascot of Sew Beachy!

Weekend Camping at Kai Iwi Beach from Romany Quilting

Our four days spent at Kai Iwi Beach Holiday Park was very pleasant.  We coped with the wind as best we could, the sun came out, then the rain, a bit of everything, but then Spring weather can be rather unpredictable in our part of the world.  I enjoyed time doing a little hand quilting on my New Zealand Botanical quilt, nice and cozy inside our van.  When I put it down for a while, Gemma decided it made a great cushion to cuddle beside.

Tripping Around from Romany Quilting

Here we are – tripping around the country again.  We left home last Friday in the pouring rain, traveling along the Desert Road and through the army town of Waiouru to get a great view of my favourite mountain, Mt Ruapehu.  No time to stop here though, we were making for Taupo.

We like to have  the radio on while we are traveling, tuned to Magic which plays “all the songs you know and love”.  And look, they're playing my extra special favourite song, Ten Guitars.  I love it so much I’ve told the family I want ...
