Two more bags from Quilting and More...

A while back I made a cute little Stash and Dash bag to use with my smaller “travel” Bernina sewing machine. One of my friends admired it, and so I decided to make one for her and another for another friend who has been very helpful to me. My lovely Bernina 790Pro made short work […]

Green Bags from Becca's Crazy Projects

I'm not sure how this fabric came to be in my collection. It could have been Aunt Betty. In any case, I had enough to back a quilt and enough to make two totes using the Green Bag Lady pattern.
I didn't use my serger on these. I did make them with French seams so they are very tidy.
It was a good afternoon project. These fold up very nicely to tuck into your bag when going to the store. I've always got one in my bag.

Then Green Bag Lady regularly gives away totes through random ...

And yet another bag! from Quilting and More...

Sometimes it seems as though things go in a series. I’ve made yet another bag, though this one isn’t intended to store tools for my smaller Bernina. I have a smallish light box for transferring designs; it measures about 14″ x 10.5″ and is quite thin. I saw that By Annie had a pattern for […]

The set is complete from Quilting and More...

Some of you may remember that I bought this smaller Bernina a few months ago to make it easier to take a machine to sewing events. The machine is the Kaffe Fassett Bernina 475, and it’s so cute! One thing that would make transporting it really simple, I decided, was to have a set of […]

Want to join me for a virtual class? from Alamosa Quilter

I will be offering my first virtual class through my shop later this month. Since the class is virtual (gonna use Zoom), you can participate from anywhere. Here is what we will be making:

Canvas Tote Class Sample

This is a Canvas Tote Bag. The class fee is $20 and includes a copy of the pattern plus enough canvas fabric to make one bag.

Here is what the pattern looks like, Canvas Tote.

Canvas Tote Pattern Front

I've got a few kits cut already but I have more canvas to be able to cut quite a few more kits, if necessary.

More Tourist Totes from Alamosa Quilter

I'm having a great time with this new pattern! It's called Tourist Tote. For these next ones I shopped from my stash.

Here they are both completed and ready to use!

And check out how green the grass in my backyard is already! We've had a lot of rain here recently.

My plan for these bags was one for me and one for my son. He turns 21 on Saturday! How did that happen?! He needed a new bag to carry his dinner and snacks with him to his new job. Right now he is working nights ...

Tourist Tote from Alamosa Quilter

A customer told me about her favorite tote bag pattern recently. It's called the Tourist Tote. It looked like a good pattern and I had a good recommendation for the pattern, so I ordered several copies of it.

Then I had to make one!

Tourist Tote Shop sample using Serene Nature fabric collection

I used four prints from the new Serene Nature fabric collection that arrived recently. This is a very nice bag and a nice pattern. It's not a very complicated bag pattern but you could easily add some pockets (inside or outside between the handles). You could also add a magnetic snap or zipper to ...

Adding to the set and a small finished quilt from Quilting and More...

Last month I posted a couple of little bags I’d made to make taking my Bernina Kaffe475 to various sewing events. After finishing those, I decided it would be a good idea to add to the set by making a project bag for fabrics, partial pieces, and patterns. So now my set is — I […]

London City Bag from Alamosa Quilter

I've had the London City Bag pattern in my shop for a while, but just got around to making up one. I shouldn't have waited so long!

London City Bag Sample

It's a Pink Sand Beach Designs pattern which means it's a good bag pattern. I opted to do the B version of the bag so the outside pocket is a single fabric instead of strips like is shown on the pattern.

On one side inside it has three pockets.

On the other side inside it has a zipper pocket.

Dayna Pack from Becca's Crazy Projects

I've had these pieces of a Dayna Pack on my cutting table forever. I was trying to tidy a little and decided to just get sewing. This is the second time I've made this bag. You can see that bag in this post from February 2021.
The Dayna Pack pattern is easy to follow and the resulting bag is perfect for a small wallet, some hand sanitizer, and my regular-sized smart phone. A great project. The pattern also includes instructions on how to downsize this for kids.

A couple of bags from Quilting and More...

About three weeks ago, I posted that I’d been fortunate enough to purchase an adorable Bernina 475 Kaffe edition sewing machine so that I can take it to various sewing sessions more easily than my amazing — but heavy — Bernina 790Plus. I decided that it only made sense to have a sort of “go […]

Wanderlust bag from Espritpatch

It seems sewing has taken a back seat since the beginning of the month sadly... I had great intentions but time has been too short. First there was a birthday girl to honour and then there has been quite a lot of travelling, business travel first followed by holidays. Even though I had some hand sewing projects with me while on the move, I hardly touched them.

However the birthday girl was away on a school trip just before we went away as a family and was getting back very late. We were originally told pick up time would be ...

New Zip Bag for Me from Alamosa Quilter

Toward the end of last year I received two fun Color Wheel fabrics in my shop, Color Wheel Pink and Color Wheel Green. I used the green one and some gray Essex Linen to make this fun bag.

I hand quilted the exterior bag pieces before assembling the bag and I love how it turned out! Now I want to make another one with the pink version of this fabric.

A (re) finish from Espritpatch

This messenger bag has been in my UFO pile for 12 years... yes I know that's an awfully long time for a rather simple bag. I started it in 2010 and finished it in 2015 to gift it to my cousin.

Apart that the zip was not detachable and therefore it just didn't work.... so I unpicked the zip and found a detachable one that I kept inside the bag ready to be attach. I then stored it away for later.

Well later finally arrived last night... it really direct take long to sew the zip on and ...

Sock Sack from Becca's Crazy Projects

I wanted a small zippered bag suitable for washing hand knit or machine knit wool socks. I grabbed a fun print and cut two 12.5" squares.
I chose that size for a couple reasons, the most important was that I have pretty big selection of 12" zippers. If you make bags and are looking for a small business solution to zippers I highly recommend ZipIt Zippers on Etsy. Excellent service and selection.
Less than an hour later I had my finished sack. There are some things I would change if I make it again but it was a great ...

Borders, Bindings, and Physio from Romany Quilting

I’m getting there with my baby quilt, using up some of those multitude of flag blocks I made a while ago.  This week I’ve been assembling the blocks, adding borders  and making some scrappy binding.  I keep pieces of leftover binding in a basket, and found a length of pink which will go nicely.  Being Murphy’s Law, not nearly long enough of course,.  But I could work with that,  I chopped it into smaller lengths and added various pieces of pink to make it a long scrappy binding..

Customer Show And Tell :: Run Around Bags from Alamosa Quilter

One of my customers is planning a big trip with a friend in November. She made them both RunAround Bags for their trip.

RunAround Bags made by Cheryl D.

These bags are fun and easy to make. Cheryl has very limited experience with zipper installation, but did great with these bags because the way the pattern has you put in the zipper is very forgiving. The pattern is very well written with good diagrams. I would say it is a good beginner bag pattern. It's an older pattern, but doesn't mean it isn't still a great one.

It's a good travel bag ...
