Christmas in July Quilt Along Embellishing from From My Carolina Home

When we left off, the base was constructed, and all that remained was the embellishment. Today, I’ll show you some ideas to spark your own creativity.

First, finish the binding on the base. Then, you can add 25 buttons to make an advent calendar so you can hang small ornaments. I placed all white ones on the base, but you can use gold, or red buttons.

I want mine to be a place to use some broken jewelry.

I have one piece that started this whole idea, an unrepairable Hollycraft rhinestone necklace that is gorgeous. I wore it a ...

What a Difference... from From the Strawberry Patch...

...a year makes! Our little Augie is all grown up! It hardly seems possible that he's been with us a year now. It sure didn't take him that long, though, to train us. The best seat in the house isn't a seat at all; he's the resident "hearth hound"!He's filled our hearts and home with pure, unconditional love over the past twelve months. And in other news around the house, (I'm trying to catch

1st Sunday of Advent Reflection from Quilt in Piece

As we gather together in this season of Advent, we dive into the words of Jesus from the Gospel of Mark, chapter 13, verses 24-37. 24 “At that time, after the anguish of those days, the sun will be darkened, the moon will give no light, 25 the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.[a] 26 Then everyone will see the Son of Man[b] coming on the clouds with great power and glory.[c] 27 And he will send out his angels to gather his chosen ones from all over ...

santa baby . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Hello, I'm so glad you're here!  (Who am I kidding??  I'm so glad *I'M* here!  Hahaha!)

Welcome, welcome to the first post of the annual Online Advent Calendar, hosted by Jo at Serendipitous Stitching! Each day she'll update the source post to reveal the day's guest poster!  It's loads of fun and a wonderful way to count down to Christmas, stitchingly!  Every year, Jo chooses a theme—this year it's Santas—and asks her bloggers to share a theme-related tidbit, and a Christmas stitching! And this year, I'm very honored to ...

advent time . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Once upon a time there was a blogger who was participating in an online Advent calendar blog hop with Jo at Serendipitous Stitching, but she got her dates mixed up and didn't realize her date was the 20th (instead of the 22nd) until she hopped over to check out today's feature.

It was me. I'm that blogger. Glad I made the realization before noon (CST)!

This year, Jo, who so graciously hosts this annual hop, has asked participants to share about their Christmas tree traditions!  This is an easy one for me!

Growing up, and even well ...

a long debriefing (and a giveaway) . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

So it's that time of year when you *blink* and two (or more) days weeks have passed.  LOL!  Can I get an amen on that?!  I always struggle, when I finally make my way back to the ol' blog (which I always do), with what to post. Do I go back and fill in the blanks?  Or just pick up at 'today' and pretend nothing happened?

Because I use my blog primarily for me ... as a means to remember events, projects, and life, over the course of the year ... my tendency is to go ahead and fill in the ...

HOPE for Christmas:) from Nestlings By Robin

HOPE
www.nestlingsbyrobin.com

I don't know where my
grandpa got his love of candles
but it passed down to my
mother and to me.
For years one of my shopping
highlights was going to
Yankee Candle every season
to see what new wonderful
candle décor was available.
Being brought up Catholic
there were many opportunities
for candle lighting.

Once old enough to light my
own candle in thought or
remembrance of another was
a big deal for me.
I enjoyed the ceremonial aspect
 of lighting the candle then
kneeling to prayer.
Then there were the Advent candles
every Christmas season and ...

Continuing On... from From the Strawberry Patch...

I am still plugging away on the Chrismon path, I've hit a few potholes and endured some detours along the way but I'm persevering, holding steady and not veering off. After returning to the supply store a few weeks back to purchase some more kits to try, I've been dedicating whatever free time that I can carve out in the afternoons to work on these. The written directions take some getting used

six more days . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

I found a new and totally fitting way to help celebrate the season of Advent this year, compliments of Jo, over at Serendipitous Stitching!  She hosts a very sweet stitcher's Advent, and today is my day to share!

The idea is to share a hand-stitched ornament.  So of course, I'm sharing two.  LOL!  One is one I've had for years and years ... and it's more of a decoration than an ornament.  This beautiful wreath:
It's a canvas and yarn piece that was done by my Pop.  He was a terrific crafter and loved to work ...

it's beginning to look a lot like . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

By this point in the year, I'm usually running around like a chicken with my head cut off ... with no relief in sight!  But if there's been *any* silver lining from covid, then I would have to say it's the relief of a lot of the hustle and bustle that usually hits this time of year. Our social commitments, which typically fill our December calendar (and wear me out), have been cut to a fraction of what they normally are. I'm thankful. Am I alone in my thinking on this?

We did enjoy a healthy, happy ...

Christmas Stitching from From the Strawberry Patch...

Don't ask me where the time has disappeared to since my last post, I honestly don't know; it seems like just yesterday I was putting away the dishes after Thanksgiving and here we are clear through Advent and today is Christmas eve! I've been busy adding stitches to many things, all in preparation. As you can see from this photo on the left, I stuck to the challenge and finished the table
