Very Belated Look at Finished Quilts From 2022 from Quilty Folk

It's way late to do a end of the year wrap up post so if this isn't your thing, please feel free to move along. It's mostly for my own records anyway, since quilts tend to get lost in the shuffle if I don't keep track. Last year ended with a respectable 15 quilts totally finished up. Not my best number, but definitely nothing to sneeze at. If I wouldn't have gotten so sick, there would possibly have been another to add to the list. Apparently it wasn't meant to be!

Hi everyone! I can't believe it's October, can you? The weather has definitely taken a cooler turn, which is nice, but we have no turning leaves yet. We do have leaves all over, though, because our neighbors had some gigantic trees taken down over the last couple of days. When I say gigantic, I mean really, really tall. They brought in cranes and everything. It was quite the project.

Disappearing 9-patch baby quilt from Magpie Quilts

I've done a lot of sorting and cleaning up in my sewing room during this "Stay home, stay safe" time of COVID-19. And I find all kinds of unfinished projects and extra blocks. I made a twin size quilt with these fabrics a year or so ago and had a couple blocks left over and some fabric left.

And just like a sour-dough bread starter that is needed to start a new loaf of bread, I use left-over blocks like these as a starting point for new quilt projects.

Nine patches for Paula from The Academic Quilter

Hello all, and welcome to my stop on the blog hop honoring Paula Budinger. Paula was a good and gentle spirit who blogged about the quilts she made at Paula B Quilts. She made a lot of scrappy quilts for kids, and donated almost all of them. I got to know her through Angela's Rainbow Scrap Challenge, where Paula often linked up her creations. Applique on a Baby Quilt from Magpie Quilts

I've made a lot of quilts based on a 9-patch block, most with the centres and corners with a darker fabric and the 4 sides with a lighter background. This quilt started with the 9-patches made with the light fabric in the centre and corners and the darker fabric on the 4 sides. Combined with a snowball block, the combination gives quite a different look.

Quilt Guild 9-patch exchange from Magpie Quilts

It's always an adventure to take part in a guild activity and this one was something I had wanted to do for a long time. So many quilt shows I've been to have had quilts made from 9-patch exchanges and it was only a matter of time before I was able to be part of such an exchange.
