The first week of the Mini Series Quilt Along with Alison Glass and Giuseppe Ribaudo. I took part on the original one a few years back (during the pandemic?). I have sewn so little this year that I wasn't really planning to join again. But then I saw some lovely blocks popping up on Instagram including Madeline's ones using Liberty fabrics. So I got some of my Liberty fabrics out ready for the quilt along. Just before cutting in my precious stash, I also found a basket of Liberty scraps, leftover from the Halo blocks (still unfinished ...
read moreFor the last 2 weekends, we spent an awful lot of time in the car, travelling long distances across France. My original plan was to continue the cross stitching but my eye sight is no longer sharp enough to stitch in a moving car... I had to swap the cross-stitchinh for some hand stitching instead. I hadn't grabbed much before we left but I had my Dear Jane pouch with a few pieces to be done.
The train journey this past week-end gave me the time to stitch...
I completed 2 more applique blocks for the Boho Heart Quilt Along.
Still far from finishing but I have completed a grand total of 6 blocks this month... my only sewing time

The sparkly linen fabric is getting quite difficult to work with as my eye sight is not improving... maybe a clue to get on with it?

Last weekend, we went to visit grieve a few hours away. A road trip meant some quiet time sitting in the car (for me anyway). I took advantage and stitch a few appliqué blocks for the Boho Heart Sew Along, which is now over, even though I'm nowhere near finish... 3 heart appliqué blocks ready to go.
1 hexie block appliqué
Very little progress but progress all the same...

2 more blocks for my Farmer's Wife quilt and my first 2 blocks of April. I still need about 30 blocks, I can't see this one finished by June sadly...Linking to Design Wall Monday, Monday Making, Midweek Makers, Wednesday Wait Loss, Happy Needle and Thread

read moreNot all the blocks yet but a few more, weeks 6 & 7 of the Boho Heart sew-along were dedicated to the applique blocks. There are 18 of them altogether! Some easier and less involved than others. I don't really like the owl or the wonky flowers so I think I will make something different for those blocks.
I had already completed one of the 2 mini hearts, now I have both ready to go
Out of the 6 mini circles, I have half of them completed and 2 more ready to be finished

read moreI have finally made my blocks for the Boho Heart Quilt Along. I haven't caught yet but at least I've made some progress!
One more Dresden block from week 3, not cut to size yet but otherwise finished. The centre is hand appliqué. I only need one more Dresden block to finish week 3...
From week 5, the Courthouse serie: 2 mini, 3 medium and 2 larger framed squares, 1 spool and 1 courthouse block. I need 6 more blocks to finish this series
Only 2 little blocks but still that's a lot for me at the moment. It is a lot because I hadn't touched my machine for weeks so it felt good to finally turn it on. It is a lot because with my current (temporary) set up I can't really sew in the evening to avoid the noise. It is a lot because I've not had much time for anything remotely creative lately and when I do, I'm usually too tired/lack any motivation. So let's cling onto a small accomplishment and be happy with ...
read moreBefore the holidays, I finally cut out one new block for the Farmer's Wife quilt
39 [Friendship] that I completed on our return
While sewing #39, I also cut out and worked on another block
30 [End of Day] since both could be made without templates. For this one, I decided to simplify the construction, constructing squares out of 2 strips and making HSTs out of the squares. The fabric placement is different from the book but I figured that this is my interpretation of the quilt and it would be fine this way.
Next on my list were ...
read moreI thought that I might spend lots of time sewing last week while on holidays but in the end I made the most of the snow and the beautiful weather and enjoyed some skiing and relaxing. Getting there and back took quite some time so the car journey was a good opportunity to work on my Dear Jane.
The assembling of rows A & B is now half completed. Not the most exciting but I don't want to leave it all to the end.

read moreIt is still early in the year so I'm still trying to stay focused. First project I've picked up to work on is a very old UFO (>10 years). I started this paper pieced Storm at Sea at the time I used to attend a local quilting group (i.e. before I had 3 children!).
It's all been packed ever since, not quite sure why as it was a rather small project. Anyway since I listed it on my UFO list for this year and I knew where to find it (always a bonus!), it got some ...
read moreThis week is week 7 of the Boho Heart quilt-along and I have just recently finished the last 2 blocks for... week 2. My sewing time and energy has completely deserted me sadly. Hopefully with the return of the sun, I will also want to create more? But for now, here are my only 2 blocks for this month

read moreWeek 2 of the Boho Heart quilt-along (early February) was all about HST. The blocks were not necessarily difficult but I didn't get to them until the last week of Febraury and I am still sadly 2 blocks short... Here are the ones I have made so far.

I was hoping to post about my quilted bear rug today that I loaded on my quilting frame last night but I ran out of quilting thread.... so I wasn't able to finish it. I wondered whether to keep it on the frame or to load another quilt instead and eventually this afternoon I decided to take it off. So the next quilt will go on and I'm hoping that by the time I finish it off, more thread will have arrived.
Anyway while I was finishing my quilt tops and backing this past week, I also finished ... read moreOne more Super Mario block! While I was making Shy Guy, I ran out of black squares so I picked this block, Star, which had only 3 colours: yellow, black and the light yellow background. I figured that if I pieced the blocks leaving out gaps for the black squares, I could easily slot them in when I had cut more. Well, it started quite well but I ended with a big puzzle and I confused myself in the end. I had all these series of squares of various lengths and combinations attached to one another that it took quite ...

And that's where I lost ...

The weather was OK on Sunday, i.e. it didn't rain so we took the opportunity to go on a walk in our local RSPB wood. It is only down the road but I must admit I had only been once! While we were walking, we saw lots of fungi/mushrooms including these beautiful but dangerous ones
