Quilt Guild Rewards! from Nestlings By Robin

Do you belong to a quilt guild?
I know there are many complaints
about guilds (cliques, not enough volunteers, etc),
but what about the positives??

I work from home and my only other
real human to talk to is my husband.
I adore my husband and he listens to all
my quilting whoas but not with the
same empathy and sympathy
that a fellow quilter hears them!
I can't expect him to:)

My biggest positive for being
a member is all the HUGS!!
If you aren't a hugger, I am sorry!
You are missing out on a quintessential ...

So Thankful for generous friends... from Nestlings By Robin

Look at these FABULOUS antique feathered
star blocks that I received from a
friend at guild the other day!

Someone had brought them to another
meeting she went to and asked if
anyone wanted them. She knew
of someone who would....

ME!!
WOW!
There are a few that need a bit
of TLC but someday they will
make an amazing new work
of art for generations to admire.
THANK YOU, SUE!

What would we do without friends
that think of us when we least expect it?
It would be a lonely, sad world indeed!

Now I challenge me & you to ...

Reason #3 not to blog.... from Nestlings By Robin

GOOFING OFF!

Even with my deadlines, I have to throw
the husband a bone now and again.
He starts to feel trapped being home
all the time when I am working.
I can just hibernate here in the house
for weeks (if the schedule allows)
and never leave because I am in my
own little quilty world!

The new movie, KNIVES OUT, is
one we both agreed to see so part of my
Saturday will be at the movies and
out to eat... YAY!
I love dates with my man:)

What will you be doing this weekend?
Whatever it is ...

Reason #2 not to blog:) from Nestlings By Robin

DEADLINES!
I am on a magazine deadline right now for a
due date that I was already given an
extension for due to family matters.
So instead of sending out a lovely long post
today with loads of pictures, I am sitting
here whining about my deadline and
how I have another sore throat....!
I never get sick and this is twice
in a month now-Ugh!

I am writing this on the 5th but you will
read it the 6th when I will be at a guild
Christmas Party.
Guess I shouldn't be whining-ha!

You may be sorry that ...

My New Quilting Stencils from Nestlings By Robin

In 2018 I designed a whole line of
tulip themed quilting stencils.
Here I am with them in the Quilting Creations booth
at Houston Market...So Exciting!

I learned a lot doing these.  I assumed (HA) that I
could magically transfer my outline applique
drawings to stencil and I basically did.
What I didn't take into account, since I love
hand quilting, is that drawings for
machine quilters need to be more adaptable to
continuous line drawing.

Next time I will get it right:)
In the meantime, you can find all my stencils
on the Quilting Creations site.
Mine ...

The INSTANT QUILT from Nestlings By Robin

Disclaimer: May have a "Soapbox" feel as they are MY opinions:)

Instant Pots are all the rage and I feel like
quilters expect the same thing from quilting.

I totally understand time restraints,
ailing health issues that don't allow
someone to do everything they once did
and I sympathize with those frustrations but.....

I do get confused when they say they are "Passionate" about quilting but want to rush through every stage by getting all the fabrics pre cut or pre laser cut/fused, assemble the top and then send it out to be quilted.  Where was the joy ...

Reason #1 from Nestlings By Robin

MUSH BRAIN!

I can't be the only one who suffers
from 'mush brain'!
You know the feeling when you go to
bed the night before and visions of your
planned awesomeness-for-tomorrow dance
in your head; but then, tomorrow morning
comes and you know there just won't be
enough coffee to energize that brain.

My work deadline/travel schedule this past
4 months have had me coming and going
with mostly 2-3 day turnarounds at my home.
This means that now that I am home,
my brain has gone on strike but
the work deadlines aren't done ...

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED from Nestlings By Robin

HELLO DECEMBER!
Now let's be clear that just because I have
accepted the challenge again this year, doesn't
mean I will accomplish it but without trying we
never know what we can do! So, here we go again:)

us every year to get our blogs back in order.
If we can do it when we are the busiest
then we have no excuse the rest of the year-HA.
That should be my series of posts this month....
reason #1 not to blog....reason #2 not to blog, etc.
Wonder if I can ...
