Cinco de Mayo from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. I'm just home from a nice breakfast with Sue. Aside from that, not much has happened this morning. There hasn't even been time for slow-stitching. As I write, I'm waiting for Mike to drink a cup of coffee, and then we'll head off to the grocery store. We're eating dinner out tonight, but the afternoon will be my own. No plans except doing whatever I want to do.

So let's back up to yesterday, shall we? It was a luxuriously slow day. Not having to sandwich any more quilts put ...

Semiquincentennial Eagle Is Ready For Framing! from Kitty and Me Designs

Ready for framing. I finished the Semiquincentennial Eagle yesterday. After being off by 1 stitch on the right side of the eagle and spending quite a bit of time trying to find the mistake, I was able to move forward and complete the project. It was a joy to stitch! If you would like to stitch the pattern, you can order it from everythingcrossstitch.com .

I stitched my project on 28 ct Light Taupe Lugana over 2 fabric threads.  I used Kreinik #002 #4 Braid for the metallic.  It took a little more than 1 1/2 spools.  Kreinik is ...

A warm day! from South Jersey Quilter

Back into the 80's today. Spring is so unpredictable.

Two lousy pix of my pairs glasses. I look awful inthe bottom pic, but oh well.

3.89 % done! I printed out the pic of what each page of the pattern covers, and seems like the qsnap covers about 3 pages.

Saturday a tooth popped off of my partial dentures. I took them to the dentist yesterday, and the lab can hopefully just glue it back on, but they need it a full day, plus pick up and delivery. So I'm without the dentures til Wednesday afternoon, which is ...

What I learned about my books! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm so glad to hear that I am not alone in getting books. And Sharon mentioned something extremely important yesterday. So many books are no longer relevant because technology has changed, and the information in the books is so outdated that no one wants it. The only thing to do is to put it in the recycling bin. And that is hard. I have a few things around here that should go in the recycling bin, but I'm not there yet, either.

However, I spent quite a bit of time in Studio B yesterday, and I learned a ...

Sharing an artist's work from My Sewing Room

Because I have nothing of my own to share yet today, I thought I would share something really beautiful from last weekend's guild meeting.  This quilt was enormous, well over 100" wide. The blocks were antique, and all done by hand with cross stich.

The ladies at the local "senior center" hand quilted this beauty and one brought it to guild so everyone could see it. Isn't it gorgeous?  Using the solid colors gave the quilt a lovely mix of antique and modern.  I'm sure the owner will be thrilled.

First finish for May 2026........................... from Exuberant Color

It didn't take long to finish the binding on this batik Double 4 Patch quilt yesterday.

It has Hobbs 80/20 batting in it and was longarm quilted by Robin Diaz.

I used a lot of 16 patch blocks from the orphan block box as the border around the center.

I used a full width of the turquoise/brown print and a strip of stripe fabric leftover from another backing for the back of this quilt.

It is 63" x 70".

Here is a closer look at the batik backing fabrics and the batik binding.

I hang it sideways ...

Monday At Moms from Quilting My Way

Yesterday, mom turned 91. So, I went to Safeway this morning and picked up a cake for her. I thought there would be more at our meeting, but as it turned out, there was only three of us. Georgie, mom and myself.

I took my beading. I also took some fabric for mom and Georgie to work with. They almost have one of the panel quilts done. Since mom had to go get her teeth cleaned at 11 am, Georgie and I chatted. I was able to get part of the next ornament done.

I finished three of them there ...
