Christmas coloured log cabin from Stitching Matters

The maker did not say she intended to use this for Christmas or that the recipient wanted it for her guest house as a Christmas decoration, but to me, the colours gave the feeling of Christmas.

Casino Day from Quilting My Way

We left for the casino around 10 am and didn't make it home till around 6 pm. That goes to show how much fun we were having. We pretty much came out even on the deal. We were winning, but not enough at times. lol We just had fun playing on their money. We had been close to getting 3K but it just didn't happen. We were okay with at.

Both of us needed to get out of the house. Patrick hasn't been able to golf for a week, and I have been pretty much lazy all ...

The Lack of Color in 2026 on Off the Wall Friday from Creations - Quilts, Art, Whatever by Nina-Marie Sayre

'tis the Season right?
The season for decorating, shopping, lights, wrapping and all things color.  Normally, it's the time of year that is sensory overload with all the different colors everywhere. I look forward to it because it's my first line of defense against the cold and the dark days of December.  Lately though it seems to have gotten harder.

It all started when I realized my stash of wrapping paper had nearly diminished.  So, I went to Walmart looking for some pretty new paper.  I mean, I hoped to find some pretty new paper.  But no.  It ...

WITB from Gayle Bong Quilts Too

WHATS IN THE BOX? Or bag or bin or basket.

More specifically my 2" scale Civil War scrap box. I knew what I had in it for  the most part. Let me show you.

The 2" scale refers to the finished size of the square and the pieces that would fit with it. So I include:

 2 1/2" squares

 2 7/8" triangles

2 1/2" x 4 1/2" rectangle and 6 1/2" long too

4 1/2" squares and

4 7/8"triangles

A little pile of 2 1/2" strips

Mini Card Wallets... from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

The holiday workshop is in full swing...

I am making Mini Card Wallets...

with SNAPS  !

I pawed through the fabric cupboards and

found lots of FUN dotty fabrics...

I am lining the wallets with

Shape Flex Fusible Stabilizer...

Shape Flex SF101

I love this interfacing...

It is so nice to work with and gives your

projects so much body with no stiffness at all.

These wallets require one piece of fabric

and one piece of stabilizer

and one snap...

I am sewing assembly line style...

The wallets are all prepped and ready

to sew together.

It just takes a few ...

Thrifted Fun, Two Christmas Slow Stitching Projects from Canadian Needle Nana

The world's oldest known bird, an Albatross named Wisdom, has returned to her southern nesting site for the 2025- 2026 breeding season. She is 75 years old at least now; this is an older video below. She had the same mate for 60 years but she is back this year with a new one. What a wonder!

And did you see there was a little fuss about the Pantone Color of the Year for 2026? It is Cloud White and some are calling it a cop out. White is a huge player in the quilting world that's for ...

Containment Contentment from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. How is everyone doing? I'll admit I'm worried about you folks up there in Northwestern Washington. We passed through some of the areas I'm reading about both going to and coming from Alaska, and so it feels just a little personal.  If you're among the folks evacuated, then I hope this ends well for you. Having faced an evacuation order a few years back, I'm sympathetic to how nerve wracking it is. Please stay safe.

The rain has stopped in our area...temporarily, at least. We can see patches of blue ...

Small Gifts ~ Sew & Tell - 12/8/25 from Melva Loves Scraps

Hello, hello!  I have been busy over here with two finishes - I shared those on Friday, and you can get all the details of the "His & Hers" Walk About quilts here. And then I turned my attention to some small gifts to share with the grandkids, friends and neighbors.  But before I go into detail about those, let's take a look at Marsha's small gift bags at Marsha's Spot.

As you can see, she has an assortment of colors and prints.  They sew up quickly and I have adjusted the size as needed.  Head over to her ...

Stitching November 2025 from Joy of Quilting

Stitching for Christmas

In November I focused on Stitching for Christmas.

Crochet Christmas Trees

I've really gone to town with these little beauties.
I experimented with different sizes from Half Trebles, Trebles and Double Trebles. It's been such fun. Especially as I can make one in about 30 minutes.

My favourite were the Half Treble ones.

Mouse of the Month

Ta Da! Once again I've managed to finish a Mouse of the Month within it's alloted Month.

What We’re Working On from Eagle's Wings Quilts

We worked on getting a few things finished this week. Marg is almost finished her blues/greys sampler.. And here at home I cut a bunch of reds and beiges into 6 7/8 inch squares to make a 48x60 quilt. It is fairly fast sewing. The layout, on the other hand, is challenging, but I like the final effect. I can hopefully get started on sewing it together next week. We also managed to make 3 quilt backs and then layer the 3 quilts. I think we have 5 or 6 now that are waiting on quilting. I brought ...

Positively Scrappy from The Colorful Fabricholic

A few months ago I was working on another scrappy Pinterest-inspired project, but I put it on hold to work on my Crossroads Wheel blocks instead. Here's the original inspiration photo, credit StitchMischief Dec. 2020.

When last visited, I had all the blocks made and sewn into columns. I took them to Social Sewing this week and got them sewn together. Now it's a finished top:

Easy-peasy Plus blocks, black or charcoal prints against colorful low volumes. Sometimes these kinds of light prints can be hard to use so this was a good use for them, light but ...

Friday check in: it's a flimsy + reading from With Strings Attached

No meetings, too cold to walk + an audiobook I had to finish (see below) = a flimsy.

6-1/4 yards by weight.

Here's a closeup of the border/sashing fabric.  The black/gray on jade  goes well with the black/white blocks.

I cut as many 2.5" squares as I could from what was left in this particular scrap box and made four-patches. After I took the photo I put all of them in a ziploc bag to await a future project.

Festive St. Wolfgang! from Quiltville's Quips & Snips!

At the heart of every Austrian village stands the church.

The establishment of the pilgrimage church of St. Wolfgang goes back to a legend in 976. The Bishop Wolfgang of Regensburg was living as a hermit at the Falkenstein and made the decision to build the first church here. The location of the building was inspired by his famous "Axe throw", considered to be a divine dispensation.

He threw the ax with the vow, that where it landed he would build a church. When he found the ax after three days he built the church at this site on a ...

Twisted Snowflake Ornaments from From My Carolina Home

For the Mountain State Fair this past September, I wanted to enter the Twisted Snowflake that we made last year during a guild program. I thought I did a tutorial for it then, but it seems I didn’t. When I dug out the snowflake from the Christmas stuff, it was crushed due to my poor attention to packing it up. So, time to make another one. I started by fusing two pieces of fabric wrong sides together with Heat and Bond. I used a high contrast combination with one side black with gold stars, and the other a bright ...

It's down to the wire for class prep, and everything is right on target! The best news is that I have the entire day to finish up things, so that's great. I completed something significant for the homework last night, and I was dancing around the room as it looks fantastic!

You have to love it when things come together like that.

It was an enjoyable day teaching my in-person class, and everyone went home with their heads filled with information. Way too much, but I took full advantage of the day, and they will now have to ...
