I Like Thursday #300 from The Knitting Quilter

It's time for Thursday likes! I've missed the last two Thursdays due to the holidays. It's time to get back to normal! Please visit LeeAnna over at Not Afraid of Color to link up with more participating blogs. Well, I bought this Christmas cactus two years ago at the supermarket. I'm not the best with plants so I'm thrilled to see this plant blossomed twice this holiday season! Not a bad investment for $3.99!

We woke up New Year's Day to find one of our cars had little tracks all over it! I ...

Stop Cleaning! Start Sewing! from Quiltville's Quips & Snips!

My short sheeted day started out like any other - but with a cut off time in preparation for getting Jason to the airport.

There was not going to be much time for machine stitching the X-Plus blocks.

Even if I was more than happy to be at my machine after giving the area a good clean up!

Under the machine are some carpet squares, there mostly to keep the machine from vibrating (it works!) but it also collects every bit of thread, lint, dust, dog ears - you name it.

Madeline's Celtic Knots from Night Owl Quilting

Madeline purchased this gorgeous Celtic Knot quilt kit on a trip to Ireland.  It contained a wonderful panel with knots and crosses and beautiful coordinates that all have metallic accents.

Madeline chose the Obsidian pantograph which has a complimentary movement to that of the border fabric. We went back and forth about using a gold thread or black, and ultimately decided to use black thread to keep the black leading lines crisp.

I don't use this pantograph often, but I really like the texture that it added here.

I Like Thursdays: January 8, 2026 from 3 Poodles and a Nana

Today is "I like Thursdays" and time to share positive things on the internet!  Join other bloggers by checking out LeeAnna' site Not Afraid of Color!  She has a whole list of positive blogs!

I like the temperatures this week.  We've gone from winter cold and wind to temperatures in the 40s and 50s (F).  The ice is melting and I'm so grateful!

I like the presents my husband gave me:

And this pretty mug:

Everyone seemed to like their presents this year and that is always a relief.

I like that this little guy was groomed on ...

This and that from My Sewing Room

This coming Saturday morning The Pin Cushion will begin the new session of Saturday Sampler.  Some years it's a mystery, and some years we see the finished product at the beginning.  Some years we get the fabric and the monthly pattern when we come each month.  Some years we shop our stash.  And EVERY YEAR the Show and Tell at the session is so inspirational.

This year we know our pattern - "Anthology" from Southern Charm Quilts.  Each month we'll do parts of this quilt.  There are so many different possibilities for this one.  I'm going with batiks ...

Big and better! But not without issues! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OH MY!!!! I did something monumental again yesterday! And in case there are any spelling mistakes because of it, I have someone to check up on me! It seems that I (and Grammarly) missed the correct spelling of MacGyver yesterday. I'll go back and correct it.

However, today, I have a different issue, and today's blog might be short because of it. I've got a new keyboard, and well, I need to figure out how to reconfigure the darn thing because I think I set it up to map French Canadian symbols, and I've got accents ...

Progress on two..................... from Exuberant Color

This top was simple to finish; it just needed two side borders.  I rarely add top and bottom borders first because that just makes the side borders longer.  I think that when I sewed the first two borders on, I hadn't found the big piece of the fabric and only had enough for those 2 short borders.  Later I found a piece almost 2 yards long so I have enough of it for the back of the quilt too.  These fabrics are from the late 1980s - early 1990s and the top was designed and started in a workshop in ...

I Like Thursday # 486 do you sing? from Not Afraid of Color

I am writing this post on Tuesday in case I can get into Chiro.... but it's been hot here, but luckily it might still be snowing in the high mountains. Going for a morning walk in CO shouldn't mean pulling off your jacket, then your sweater...

I took the above pic because of the pretty reflection that morning

Dogs i met along the way

Burito... He was so dapper in his forest green sweater and pretty harness
His dad chatted a long time with us, rare for young 30 year olds here. He got Burito in the marriage ...

Quilting Work from Quarter-Inch Capers

I admit it! I am having a hard time getting back on task after the holidays. I have managed to get a few customer quilts done, and I have another one loaded on the frame right now waiting its turn. This is a funny one:

It’s Bigfoot! The middle is a panel, and the rest is borders from various Bigfoot fabrics. The one with the little photos is really funny.

He is riding a four wheeler, playing a guitar, paddling a canoe, etc. she made it for her son, and it’s pretty large.

Besides being funny, I mostly ...

Community Quilts from Joey from Jo's Country Junction

I have quilts to share with you from Joey. She volunteered to do the longarming on all of these for her friend J Brown. She pieced the tops, provided the backing of minky, provided the batting, and bound them. Joey did the longarming. First up is a pretty butterfly quilt. I don’t think I have …

Rail Fence Delight from Applique 'n Patch Quilting

Looking over my photos of finished quilts, here is one that was never shown.  My “Rail Fence Delight”.

Ridley had to photo bomb my set up.  What a guy!  Thing is …. he wants to play and thinks this will make me stop …..

It all started with a small salad container and some pre-cut neutral strips that I bought from a lady that was moving (Wendy in Barrie as I know she reads my blog).  The Rail Fence block was the way to go!  The center was done quite some time ago, but the border stumped me and the project was ...

Trip To Olympia In The Rain from Quilting My Way

Today, we had to be up and ready to leave. We needed to get mom to her appointment by 11 am. So, we went to pick her up at 10 am.

We picked her up and had a few things we needed to do when we dropped her off. So, we took her to the dentist in Olympia that could take care of her root canal. They checked her out, then they came out to let Patrick and I know it would be an hour. I played on my phone for a bit and then got into my bag, that ...

WACKADOODLE from Q-BITS

No really apparent reason for the name except that I have always been interested in the word.  Does it mean something positive or negative?  Sometimes a 'fanatic' or 'eccentric' pops up as a meaning.  I became sort of a fanatic trying to finish this quilt during the hectic month of December during the holiday season. It was to be my last quilt for 2025, and I wanted to get it done before the new year.  So, I persevered.  There are 25 5-inch blocks each containing 29 pieces for a total of 725 + 8 border pieces contained in a 29 inch ...

The Little Things… from Jo's Country Junction

Isn’t it crazy how sometimes little things can drive a person crazy…but yet we don’t take time to fix them?? I have had the kitchen nozzle for a long time. I have cleaned it, and it got better. Now the thing started spraying crazily. It sprays so wide. My shirt would get wet when I …

Kicking Off 2026 and NTT! from My Quilt Infatuation

Welcome to 2026, my friends!  If you missed my last post way back in November, I decided to take a blogging break for the rest of 2025.  I usually take a break during the month of December and adding most of November to the break wasn't my intention, but things just came at me fast in those last six weeks of the year.  In addition to Thanksgiving and Christmas, my husband and I also celebrated our 27th anniversary, his birthday, and hosted a huge Christmas party.

And if that wasn't enough, I ended up doing the final draft ...
