Setting some new project goals from My Sewing Room

It's the beginning of a new month already.  That means I typically look back at my goal list and think about what goes onto the next goal list.  I'm a list maker!!

Voila!  Here are the finished placemats and mug rugs that used up most of the leftover Kaffe jelly roll.  It is satisfying to see something useful made of leftovers so they don't end up increasing the quantity of scraps living in my sewing room.  The binding of 2 red/white/blue placemats and some fun mug rugs should be done today.  And there are a ...

March Sew Sampler from Happy Cottage Quilter

The March Sew Sampler box was great!

I will use every single thing. Some months there are one or two things that I would never use. But this one was a great combination. Go over to the Jolly Jabber to see exactly what was in this special box.

The last March finish................. from Exuberant Color

I finished hand sewing the binding on this neutral color batik 16 patch quilt around 9 p.m. last night but didn't want to go to the basement to take the photos so I hung it on my main floor studio design wall for these photos.  This one ended up at 54.5" x 71".

I was so happy to find a large enough piece of batik (that looks good with the top) in my backings box.  I only buy that large of yardage when it is deeply discounted.

This quilt has Hobbs 80/20 batting in it and ...

New York Beauty from Quilts....etc.

On Sunday night I finished one end of the NYB and was then ready  to roll the quilt down. It is always nice rolling the quilt down when you know it will be then showing the half way point clearly.  The big circle is in the center of the quilt. And this is where I […]

Squares on check from Stitching Matters

Another quilt I cheated on regarding the date and time received, but I knew I would be able to finish this one fast. The maker knew exactly what she wanted, and I had nothing to plan or think about.

The other reason for popping this one in early was that it made the pile in my guest bedroom look less, as I get nervous just opening the door to the room.

Now off to start the others, still waiting.

Back to Fostering: Meet Binx from Jo's Country Junction

The foster group I work with is HEART Animal Rescue. I hadn’t had a dog for quite a while due to my previous job. I worked 10-hour days, and that was too long for a dog to be here by themselves. Many times I could have taken a dog with me to work, but then …

March 30: Psalms 139:7-10, Fiber Fun, Literay Life, Finding Joy from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Hello There,
Thank you for stopping by!  I hope you had a fabulous week! This week has been fun and filled with self-care.   I've been learning about skin and hair care, as well as make-up application tips for women of a certain age on YouTube and via my daughter and granddaughter.  LOL!  It's fun to feel 18 again!  I'll be sharing my experiences, failures and successes.

My son and I have a tradition of going to TobyMac concerts.  This week we included my husband and a good friend of mine.  It was exhilarating!  Chains were broken and ...

April's Block 2025 from Quilt Doodle Doodles...

Happy April, Easter and spring are right around the corner. The days are getting longer and longer, and I look forward to working in the garden again. It's hard not to want to start cleaning up the gardens with the warmer weather. I'm just itching to go to the greenhouses!

It's hard to believe that my second grand daughter will be a year old! The year sure flew by, and it's been so much fun watching her grow.

In case you are just starting the BOM, the fabric requirements are below. Everything is based on a ...

March 2025 Life and Quilt Update from My Quilty World

Our theme this year, CHAOS TO CONTENTMENT!!!  I don't know about anyone else, but I have lost my way lately.  No drive, no ambition, no love of what I'm doing.  I "think" it has to do with being in a constant state of OVERWHELM!  I have not managed time well and wind up with crunch projects -which are never fun.  I've packed my list of "want to accomplish this month

Not My Best Day....But A Good Day from Quilting My Way

This morning, I slept in. Patrick woke me up to get ready for our BE meeting at the grange. I headed out with the quilts I wanted mom to put labels on and my stuff.

Arrived and Geralyn was right behind me. We chatted a bit before Sandy arrived and then mom. Mom gave me a pillow that her mother made with BE. She asked me a while back if I could fix it. I told her I would.

It's beautiful! I need to find the flower pattern for the center flower. I know one of us has the ...

Doing another scrap challenge quilt from Northern Deb Quilts

This is my latest project….. it’s going to be a very scrappy quilt using mostly 30s, shirtings and novelty scraps in softer colors. This is a scrap challenge I’m doing through IG @retroquiltlover
She organized a nine patch scrap change last year and this year it’s these economy (or thrift) blocks.

I bought a new acrylic template to make cutting/trimming these blocks easier. I cut the center using my
2-1/2” template then cut 2 three inch squares which I then subcut on a diagonal. Those are added to the 4 sides of the center piece ...

2 Reds plus White 4, 5, 6 from Virtual Quilter

I got tired of playing with red and white designs, with just one red fabric, so started this project file with assorted 9 patch blocks and two red fabrics with the white. It was also a response to my state quilter’s guild celebrating their 40th birthday.

I have a large collection of 9P designs to choose from, but i am trying not to add too many to the file for these designs.

I think the last designs is my favourite today, but will possibly change my mind when the first coffee of the morning kicks into gear properly!

The Maker and Mender Finished from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

My goal was to get this finished by the end of March and I made it! Some of my colors are different – maybe all of them. I used Vikki Clayton silks and I did the conversion myself. I had to change a few colors (the letters in the verse) because the sulks that were...

#RSC March Finishes from Melva Loves Scraps

Technically, there are still a few days left of the month, but I am putting the yellow scrap bin away so that I can focus on quilting the Patchwork of Love wedding quilt.  The bin is much emptier than when I started... as it should be!  Here's what I accomplished in March!

Sunflower table runner and placemats...

A Sun-shiney yellow and 21-year-old Hawaiian fabric squares that I played with improv piecing from the scrap bin...

I created rays of sunshine in the quilting, used some tropical print in the pieced backing and finished it with a scrappy yellow binding ...

Patchwork of Love Progress~ Sew & Tell - March 31, 2024 from Melva Loves Scraps

We are on the verge of turning the calendar pages to a new month and send March off with its marching orders. Most of us have watched the seasons begin to turn from winter to spring (in the northern hemisphere)... flowers are beginning to stretch their arms up out of the ground, trees are budding (and my allergies are well aware of that!), grass is greening, birds are singing, and the bees are buzzing.  Our large maple in our front yard is filled with small buds that the bees LOVE!  You can hear them from the front steps!

Yes, spring ...

Finally Finished—the Down & Dirty Civil War Repro Quilt! from A Prim and (not so) Proper Quilter

—the first finish of 2025 AND finished on Worldwide Quilting Day.

Goodness, where does the time go? It’s February March and I have a finished quilt to share with you! And talk about uplifting—let’s just say with all the happenings in our family circle and the world, it’s nice to see something get accomplished, although I honestly thought by this time I would have at least two quilts done. Anyone who truly knows me is laughing their butts off reading that statement.

I started this quilt in 2013 when our youngest, David, said he would like ...
